'This case is going nowhere and Bragg knows it': Trump's camp says grand jury month-long hiatus is 'first step' in Manhattan DA dropping 'bogus' prosecution

It is the latest delay after weeks of back-and-forth and political jousting

Donald Trump's team is growing increasingly confident that Alvin Bragg will drop his case, and think the grand jury's month-long break in hearing evidence is the 'first step' in the process.

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg impaneled a grand jury earlier this month in the hope of indicting Trump on campaign finance violations.

The jurors have been tasked with considering whether Trump broke the law when his attorney Michael Cohen gave $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about claims she had slept with Trump in 2016.

But today it was announced the jury will not hear any evidence in the case for a month.

On the few days a week that they are convened this week and next, they'll hear evidence on different cases. Then, they will enjoy a two-week 'scheduled hiatus'.

The hiatus is believed to have been scheduled to cover a NYC public school break, Easter and Passover, but no one from the DA's office has confirmed it.

Not that this will humble or embarrass Alvin Bragg
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Kind of funny that they said this on the very day the indictment came down.

I truly hope that this case is going nowhere.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

No, "everyone" was not saying that.  The only ones saying that were certain Trumpers caught up in the wham bam thank you ma'am world of the Twitterverse, where every leak and rumor is assumed to be true, and assertions of fact are made at lightning speed without a moment of deliberation.

Plenty of people were smart enough to not make half-assed assumptions based on unconfirmed rumors.

The indictment is being described as a tawdry affair, something put together with bubble gum and twine. Trump will wait it out while fuming and his capable "hired gun" lawyers will pull it apart. This while his campaign chest increases exponentially. I don't like the man, but this will only boost his chances of winning the presidency all the more. This will blow up in Bragg's face I think. "Trump haters" can be their own worse enemies!
