James Baker was the FBI's asset at Twitter and scrubbed the Twitter Files before Matt Taibbi received them

He has just been escorted from Twitter HQ

And you wondered why there were no references found to the FBI and the Hunter laptop...

Elon Musk fires Twitter lawyer Jim Baker, who was involved in censoring Hunter Biden laptop and Russia probe
Former Twitter lawyer James Baker was also involved in the FBI's role in the Russia probe

By Paul Best FOXBusiness

Elon Musk said that Twitter's former Deputy General Counsel Jim Baker was "exited" from the company on Tuesday after revelations about his role in the platform's handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story.

Journalist Matt Taibbi published internal communications over the weekend that took place among Twitter's top brass in October 2020 about how to deal with the New York Post's publication of materials on Hunter Biden's laptop.

Why is anyone surprised?

The former FBI General Counsel who personally signed off on FISA warrants to spy on Trump was also the Twitter deputy counsel who urged them to censor Hunter Biden's laptop and was editing the Twitter files before they were released.

It's impossible to make any of this up.

BREAKING: Matt Taibbi Drops More Information on the 'Twitter Files' and Exposes an Attempted Cover-Up
By Bonchie | 5:21 PM on December 06, 2022

Matt Taibbi, who authored the first release of the infamous “Twitter Files,” is back for round two. Or at least he’s back to provide a supplement to round one while round two is still being worked on.

According to Taibbi, James Baker, who was general counsel for Twitter and a former top-level FBI official, inserted himself into the disclosure in an attempt to “vet” the files that were ultimately released. Elon Musk was not notified of Baker playing middle-man.

As RedState reported, Baker was fired on Tuesday, and with Taibbi’s latest thread, we now know why. I normally try to not flood my articles with long strings of multiple tweets in a row, but it’s important to get all the information out there.

As Taibbi notes, the next installment of the “Twitter Files” is being led by controversial (as in she makes the right people upset) reporter Bari Weiss. Apparently, while she was working on her part of the effort, she discovered that someone on the backend was curating what was being released. When she inquired about who it was, she discovered it was none other than James Baker.

Baker is a name many people who read RedState will likely recall. He was at the center of the Steele Dossier and was part of the FBI regime that tried to bring down Donald Trump via the “Russian collusion” hoax. Naturally, he left that post to take a high-paying job as chief counsel for Twitter because government hacks who toe the line always have a path to the private sector.

It appears that Baker was trying to mitigate the damage of the “Twitter Files” with some kind of attempted cover-up. According to Musk, his explanation wasn’t satisfactory, and that led to his ouster. With Baker gone, the release of the files should now continue unabated. I have a feeling Weiss is going to produce something really good with her research.

Question for our Crack IT Staff.....

When I was at work, my company kept three tiers of Server Backup in the day....  Daily, Quarterly, and Annually.

Is there any chance of pulling an archive of what Baker might have scrubbed?

Email? Shit yeah. As you described. It's backed up and archived for legal purposes. Office 365 Admin here, not sure what they use for email at Twitter.

The bigger question re. Baker is:  was he able to permanently destroy data, or is it just a matter of recovering additional copies of what he "scrubbed" and then of having it reviewed by Taibbi and Weis?

And even a bigger question, considering Musk's reach in monitoring staff he obviously does not trust.....

What was so damaging that Baker had to scrub, that he had to know his employment status would be highly endangered.

Must be big.

If you're fired from Walmart you can't go around destroying merchandise on the way out. Criminal offense.

In his case, it probably boiled down to a choice of Company Theft v. Treasonous proof of Collusion of Big Tech and Government influencing the outcome of a POTUS election.

He chose the better option, but might not get away with it.

Congress cannot prosecute anyone for anything. All they can do is make criminal referrals to the "Justice" {{{{{GAG!!!}}}} department.

That's a good question.  I am not a lawyer, but as far as jurisdictional enforcement, I think a lot has to do with location, and whether the dirty deed transveresed state lines.

We would probably be screwed either way with CA AG office, or Garland's DOJ.

Probably a good reason why most of Big Tech locates itself in CA.

Surely they have a backup or recovery setup.

Guessing that Baker wasn't tech astute enough, authorized, and had access to do this on his own. Who helped him?

Elon Musk to release all Twitter files

https://mooovment.com/elon-musk-to-release-all-twitter-files/

•  While responding to former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Elon Musk stated that all ‘Twitter Files’ will be made public

•  The release of the controversial files could boost public confidence in Twitter which would be bullish for DOGE

Twitter’s new owner and CEO, Elon Musk, has promised to release all files related to the Hunter Biden laptop scandal in possession of the company. The move, which is a bid to build greater public trust, could help pump the price of Dogecoin (DOGE).

Musk made the commitment in an exchange with former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. Dorsey urged Musk to release everything related to the case, including all discussions around and future actions, at once now without filters so the public can make their own judgment.

In response, Musk said Twitter will release everything it finds. He added that most important data was hidden at the time, even from Dorsey, while some may have been deleted. he wrote:

Most important data was hidden (from you too) and some may have been deleted, but everything we find will be released,

Musk has revealed that his motivation for rehashing the story which was suppressed at the time it occurred is to earn complete trust from the public as he aims to make Twitter the pinnacle of free speech and the main source of reliable information.

Musk also intended to elevate the status of Twitter to the primary global town square through several initiatives he has planned which he has dubbed Twitter 2.0. These plans include improving the user experience of Twitter, as well as introducing new features including payments.

How awesome would it be to add a coverup charge, to the existing collusion and treason charges?

‘Spy Agencies are Now Running the Show’: Powerful Thread on ‘Twitter Files’ is a Warning to Americans
    by Becker News
December 9, 2022

As the fallout from the Twitter Files release continues, there is one controversial figure in the eye of the cyberstorm for over a decade that can bring clarity to what’s at stake for the world should Big Tech continue on its current trajectory.

Kimdotcom, the founder and former CEO of Megaupload, unloaded a powerful thread in the wake of the Twitter Files 2 release on the threat weaponized Big Tech poses to humanity.

“Here are my views about the recent revelations,” he wrote. “First of all I’m glad this information is now available to the public and I’m angry because of what was done to censor and control public discourse about important issues like corruption and Govt crimes. Twitter has become a spy agency and a censorship tool for the deep state in collusion with the Democratic Party.”

“The same is happening at every big tech company today,” he continued. “They limit political speech as well as leaks about crimes and corruption by the Government and politicians. The Democratic Party has surrendered to the power of the deep state, a group of spy chiefs and corporate elites in the war and security business and their vast network of protected billionaire associates who control the media and big tech.” ...
