It's disingenuous to refer to Jill's father as Giacoppo if his own father previously changed the family name.

Mr. M's four grandparents were immigrants. Mr. M's father changed his surname to an Americanized version of the family name. That's the name now. Neither Mr. M nor I presume to go by the Eastern European name, because that's not the family name. Giacoppo is not Jill's name any more than D_ich is my name.

Joe is just so tiresome.
