A Navy captain has been arrested and charged with felony assault and battery in Virginia.

Capt. Dennis Turner, a supply corps officer currently assigned to U.S. 2nd Fleet, was arrested on May 4 with “felonious assault and battery family member warrants,” according to the Hampton, Virginia, police department. Cmdr. Lara Bollinger, public affairs officer for 2nd Fleet, confirmed Turner was arrested and released last week.

“The Navy is cooperating fully with civilian authorities,” Bollinger said. “This incident is under investigation, so it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

Unless the family member he attacked was attacking him or another family member with a hatchet or some other lethal weapon,he's toast.

The US Navy is the most uptight branch of the US Military, and unlike the other branches, seems to come down much harder on the officers than the enlisted swine.

Admirals are handled with kid gloves, but even they are toast if the civilian press start printing details of the charges.  Even if they are found to be innocent or there were legitimate reasons for the arrest and court martial, their careers are over, and they are forced into retirement.

BTW,I have no idea how the US Coast Guard fits into this description. I  never had any contact with Coasties when I was in the army, and damn little since I got discharged. I am GUESSING the USCG brass are kind of mellow compared to the other branches, though.
