Mayorkas Says DHS Has ‘Obligation’ to Build Border Wall After Biden Halted Construction Last Year

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas now says his agency has an “obligation” to continue constructing border wall along the United States-Mexico border even as President Joe Biden halted all construction last year via executive order.

During a hearing before the House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) presented Mayorkas with photos of border wall materials rusting away in the desert along the southern border.

The materials, Hinson said, were supposed to be used to continue constructing border wall to deter illegal immigration. Those plans were halted, though, when Biden halted all construction via executive order in January 2021.

How can the agency still have an obligation when Biden put an end to that obligation?

Over 1,000,000 crossed over our border last year, so, a border wall at this point would help, but that wall is only as good as it is allowed to be patrolled and armed and only IF BP is allowed to immediately deport those trying to enter.

IMHO -- it's too late.  'They are already here' and another 1,000,000 will come in before the squabbling about building a wall is resolved.

Sounds like the dem-communist powers-that-be in the regime (administration) are getting ready to execute a 180-degree "pivot" on the border wall.

They see the elections coming -- 2024 as well as 2022 -- they read the opinion polls -- and may actually be putting two-and-two together ("old math" style) and realize that they'd better do something.

Even if they just re-activate construction on "existing gaps" as a beginning, that will be most telling...

I just don't see the DEMS doing a 180.  They may 'promise' to re-activate construction, but I don't see that they will keep that promise.  There are too many potential DEMS voters coming across that border and that's been their whole intent all along of keeping that border open (among other things).

Mayorkas called ‘Benedict Arnold’ in heated House exchange over border crisis

Alejandro Mayorkas was blasted as a traitor to the United States over his handling of the southern border crisis on Thursday, by a congressman who got personal in comparing President Biden’s Homeland Security secretary to Revolutionary War traitor Benedict Arnold as the DHS chief faced an onslaught from House Republicans.

“My constituents want you impeached because they believe you’ve committed treason,” Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) said during a House Judiciary Committee hearing.

“They compare you to Benedict Arnold. You know, no parent with the last name Arnold names their kid Benedict. They wonder what will the Mayorkas family do down the road.”

Mayorkas called the comparison “profoundly offensive” and said he is “incredibly proud” of his service to the US. ......

Calling him Benedict Arnold is an insult to Benedict Arnold, not the other way around.  And how he personally feels about his so-called "service" to the U.S. is irrelevant. 

He has committed treason and should be impeached for it.
