Most Black Americans say race is more important to their identity and relationships than nationality, according to a new Pew Research Center survey.

Pew researchers found that 71% of Black American adults said race is “extremely or very important” to how they think about themselves, the highest share for any identity indicator in the survey. Fifty-eight percent said the same of the country where they were born.

By comparison, 44% of the general public said race is “extremely or very important” in their identity, while the largest share — 55% — listed the country of their birth.

“A significant share of Black Americans also say that when something happens to Black people in their local communities, across the nation or around the globe, it affects what happens in their own lives, highlighting a sense of connectedness,” Pew said in a summary of the survey.

Fifty-two percent of Black respondents said “everything or most things that happen to Black people in the United States affect what happens in their own lives,” and 30% said some things that happen nationally to Black people have a personal impact.

In addition, 43% of Black respondents said all or most things that happen to Black people in their local community affect what happens in their own lives, and 41% said they “feel their fates are strongly linked to Black people around the world.”
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were 47 million Black Americans in 2020, making up 14% of the overall population.

  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion
Well DUH! The same for Hispanics in America(well a great many Black and Brown) their allegiance is to where they came from not where they are and above all Race or La Raza. All you have to do is listen to them and their leaders and it's obvious, and my feeling is as always is if they don't like here then GTFO!

GT:
"The same for Hispanics in America(well a great many Black and Brown) their allegiance is to where they came from not where they are and above all Race or La Raza."

There's only one racial group in America that refuses to recognize such "allegiance".
And their refusal to choose is the reason why they are losing ground, and will continue to do so.

Once more, "Fishrrman's dialectic":
You may not be interested in the politics of race, ethnicity, and identity.
But the politics of race, ethnicity and identity are VERY MUCH "interested"... in YOU.

Eventually, whether you wish to or not, you must make "a choice".
Decline to do so, and it will be made for you, by others.
I've made mine.

  • I need to be in love, K.c. R.C.
There is a disturbance in the force, Luke! black people realize when Trump was running the show, they were all employed, but when democrats took over, democrats  sent  American jobs to foreign lands, and foreigners to come to America to take jobs many blacks had or would have had, many blacks went back to being unemployed.  Democrats are running scared and trying to project false images of doing well, and false images of how loved they are.  Sacred lies invoked to try and shore up decaying power realities. Much like hitler inferred, the bigger the lies, the better, also how fortunate for governments that people don't think, costs of that?  The lives of tens of millions.
