Kiev — An Estonian cargo vessel has sunk off the coast of the southern Ukrainian city of Odessa after being hit by shots, according to Ukrainian authorities.
The vessel, named Helt and owned by an Estonian company, was carrying the Panamanian flag.
It was hit below the waterline and then disappeared from radar, the Ukrainian port administration said Thursday.
A spokesperson for the Estonian Foreign Ministry said the ship’s six crew members had been rescued and brought to safety.
