The company wants to reduce the cost of delivering satellites into orbit without any emissions of carbon or other harmful gases. Wirraway’s three-stage launch system consists of a reusable Delta Velos orbital rocket and a Boomerang first-stage reusable launch vehicle.
Boomerang must accelerate the Delta Velos orbiter to Mach 5 before separating and returning to base. Then the orbiter will continue to move, accelerating from 5 to 12 Mach, and will go to the upper atmosphere, where it will release a payload – a satellite weighing 50 kg, which will be accelerated to Earth. The orbiter will then return to base, landing like a normal aircraft.
