<snipit>

Automaker Chrysler just announced plans to go completely electric by 2028, anticipating the release of its first electric vehicle by 2025.

Chrysler announced the plans along with a new AI-enabled vehicle system powered by a battery that the company says can travel 350 to 400 miles per charge, as The Associated Press reported.

====================================================================================

Cruz should join Chrysler.  Seems both are into  disasterous strategic decisions lately.

350 to 400 miles per charge?
In winter?
In North Dakota?
Running the heater (current static air temperature is eighteen below zero)?

Sure am glad I don't have a Chrysler Dealership...their days are numbered here.

Privately owned company, so really no way to really tell how badly this is destroying the company.

Reverse diversification has never been a winning business strategy unless you are in a market crash scenario.

Chrysler should have never been bailed out in 1977.

If you can find a better car, buy it.  Oh we will.

The death of the internal combustion engine has been highly exaggerated.

AI enabled? I can see the AI reducing speed to 25-30 to increase mileage, and do you really need that heater because it is drawing to much on the battery so off it goes, no radio or AC they are negatively impacting vehicle range. Yes you may get 350 miles on a charge but it will take twelve hours.
Does anyone really want to trust something made by Fiat?

You left out the "French" (Renault) part of "Stellantis"...so: "American-turned-German-turned-American-again-turned-Italian-turned-French/Italian".  ;-)

So an electric RAM 3500 P/U is going to tow a 20K pound 5th wheel trailer how far?  "Hot-Shots" not gonna like it!!

Nor by Obama in 2009 either, especially since it became a non-American company.

Weren't they bought out by the French?

That would go a long ways towards explaining this brain fart.

Damn shame. Walter P was  a engineer supreme, and Chrysler products showed this while he was alive. His only real failing was when it came to visual designs. Walter P always put function over form.

The engineering advances continued right up until all the Walter P hires retired, and after that was when things began to get shaky.

Being bought out by the French guaranteed bankruptcy.

Still, compare the selling prices of Mopar muscle cars to those of every other manufacturer. Mopar brings the biggest bucks, and have the most rabid fans.

Gonna miss them, even though the last Mopar I bought new was a fire engine red 76 Cordoba with black leather upholstery and every option known to man.

Loved the HELL out of it,but need overpowered lust, and I sold it to buy a pu.

A second-tier car company like Chrysler should be watching Toyota on what it is doing rather than the climate alarmists.

Toyota is being realistic in not going full-blown EV as it knows their is no infrastructure to support it for decades.

Chrysler's new business model will be to suck off the government incentives instead of prudently operating a viable business

How is this different from their old business model from the 70's?  Wanna buy some tanks?

Chrysler did make great tanks.

No way Toyota is going to ditch the ICE. Imagine jihadis driving electric technicals across the sandbox... **nononono*

Both.

I loved it too, until I needed a pu more than I needed what I wanted.

The Cordoba had to go. Still miss it a little, even with the horrible gas mileage.

Ford’s planned production increases of both the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E, two of its first three fully electric vehicles, have been the momentum behind the stock’s most recent increases. As for the steady climb since Farley’s takeover of Ford nearly a year-and-a-half ago, the company’s transitioning narrative has pointed closer to a fully-electric future, void of combustion engines.

For a true gangster car, I got to go with the New Yorker.  It had a 4-body trunk.

Not just the mileage, I have not found memories of bad valves stem seals leading to often fouled plugs in the good old seventies.

Piker, my '73 Newport was a 6-8 body trunk, equaled only by a '72 Lincoln I once had.
