Dr. Oz announces bid for US Senate seat in Pennsylvania

(CNN)Dr. Mehmet Oz, a cardiothoracic surgeon and television personality, is running for the US Senate in Pennsylvania as a Republican, according to an op-ed published Tuesday in the conservative Washington Examiner.
"During the pandemic, I learned that when you mix politics and medicine, you get politics instead of solutions. That's why I am running for the U.S. Senate: to help fix the problems and to help us heal," Oz wrote.
The 61-year-old Oz will join a Republican primary field that already includes Philadelphia-area businessman (and 2018 lieutenant governor nominee) Jeff Bartos and Carla Sands, who served as US ambassador to Denmark in the Trump administration. Another potential Republican candidate is David McCormick, a former official in the Treasury Department under President George W. Bush.

The race in Pennsylvania to succeed retiring Republican Sen. Pat Toomey has been shaken up in recent weeks, primarily by the departure of GOP candidate Sean Parnell, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

Oz is an Ohio native who attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. He rose to fame as a frequent guest of Oprah Winfrey, eventually launching his own syndicated daytime TV talk show in 2009.

Not actually living in the state purportedly represented didn't hurt Robert C. Byrd, John D. Rockefeller IV, Dick Gephardt or countless other Senators and U.S. Representatives, of course.

I saw him on Newsmax last night and when asked if he wanted Trump's endorsement he said, "I'm my own man". He talks about America First, but I'm not confident he won't be another Nancy Mace.

I think this clown is just about 100% bovine fecal matter. Gun "violence" is a crime problem...not a public health problem. That's putting the cart before the horse. Cut down the violence, and the public health will automatically improve.

Now he’s running for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.

As he leaps into one of the country’s most crucial campaigns, Oz, a Republican, says he moved to the Keystone State late last year, specifically to the Montgomery County home owned by his wife’s parents. He registered to vote in Pennsylvania, has acquired a driver’s license, concealed carry gun permit, and medical license in the state, and is reminding voters that in the 1980s he graduated from business and medical school at the University of Pennsylvania.

At the same time, Oz’s social media still frequently show him at his North Jersey mansion, long after he says he moved to Pennsylvania. More than 20 posts in the last three months alone appear to show him at his Cliffside Park home, some with New York in the background, others showing the interiors of the house that have been displayed in earlier video clips and magazine profiles. ...
