NY Times Asks: Why Do Blue States Suck?
« on: November 28, 2021, 12:42:59 am »
Powerline by John Hinderaker  November 27, 2021

This opinion video by the New York Times (Johnny Harris and Binyamin Applebaum) was published earlier this month, but has continued to get attention. The video begins by noting the Democrats’ professed commitment to housing opportunity, progressive taxation, and quality education. It then asks the question, what are the Democrats actually doing on these fronts in the states where they exercise complete control?

The answer is, they are doing poorly. The fact that red states are doing better than blue states is no surprise. People are abandoning California, New York, Illinois and Minnesota, and moving to Texas, Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina. These basic migration patterns, and parallel changes in economic growth, are driven by red-state economic policies–low taxation, controlled spending and rational regulation. But the Times liberals come at the issue from a different perspective, and indict their fellow liberals not for bad policy ideas, but for hypocrisy:

Sure, liberals don’t want “affordable housing” near their multi-million dollar mansions. Who can blame them? But governments in states like California have many policies in place that discourage housing development, not just in the heart of Palo Alto, but throughout the state.

The libs will not use any analysis like this to change the blue states to mimic the red states and lift them up.

Instead, libs will bring the red states down by attempting to impose federal control over as many things as possible so there is no escape from the onerous hands of control.
It is what they do.

And is why the retention of a Republic is the most important fundamental action we could take.

"Why do blue states suck?" is a rhetorical question. The answer is more than obvious.

The fastest way to kill progressivism as a significant movement is to force its adherents to live up to their own rhetoric.

Talk is cheap.

Evidently not to the writers at the NYTimes.  And probably not the the politicians and bureaucrats that make them suck.  As Hayek observed, "If socialists understood economics, they would not be socialists," though there is more to it than that.  "Blue state" policy makers are by and large committed to a Rousseauian view of human nature, and as such even in the non-economic sphere promulgate policies that fail when they come into contact with actual human nature (and it matters not whether you see actual human nature through the lens of Darwin or Genesis, the social good for the ape who looked up at the stars can came to build cathedrals and computers, compose symphonies, operas and jazz octets, understand general relativity and quantum mechanics, looks more or less identical to the social good for the fallen pinnacle of creation made in the image and likeness of the very reason for all existence, who preferred his animal nature to the Divine command -- as bears on politics, the interesting opposition is not between Darwin and Genesis, but between either of them and Rousseau).
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

The socialists need the issue alive so it can be nationalized and they can use the issue to force national conformity.

When large groups of clueless and dumbed down congregate together and vote for leaders that will outrageously lie to them and deceive them and take their jobs away and over tax them.  They refuse to comprehend, they just want to bawl the loudest, which the political party that holds them in contempt and pisses on them doesn't mind at all.  Contrary to Darwin, the fools have out bred the smart, wise, actually intelligent.  You can see them braying like asses on almost any public forum, as they usually have no shame, just mindless expanded egos  and hand fed toxic rhetoric.
