Joe Biden Blames Record High Energy Prices on Oil Companies, Calls for Investigation

President Joe Biden on Wednesday dodged responsibility for record-high energy prices and asked the Federal Trade Commission to investigate oil companies for “anti-competitive behavior.”

With nationwide gas prices reaching historic highs, inflation marking a thirty-year high, and a supply chain that seems permanently broken, President Biden is presumably seeking to escape responsibility for his failed energy agenda by placing blame on oil companies.

“I do not accept hard-working Americans paying more for gas because of anti-competitive or otherwise potentially illegal conduct,” President Biden said. “I therefore ask that the Commission further examine what is happening with oil and gas markets, and that you bring all of the Commission’s tools to bear if you uncover any wrongdoing.”

“The Federal Trade Commission has authority to consider whether illegal conduct is costing families at the pump,” Biden referenced the record-setting gas prices around the country. “I believe you should do so immediately.”

The democrats have been pushing this turd for as long as I can remember and it has never once worked, with every tax dollar wasting investigation going nowhere. What this is really all about is democrats investigating a democrat, the end result is already determined, its just how are they going to get the whitewash they want out of the investigation. Joe wants democrat investigations to haul his chestnuts out of the fire, and if it works, Joe will want many more investigations before he leaves office.

As pressure mounts on Joe Biden and his administration over inflation, including higher prices at the gas pump, the president has asked the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to investigate potentially “illegal conduct” by the oil and gas industry — and that industry is pushing back.

“This is a distraction from the fundamental market shift that is taking place and the ill-advised government decisions that are exacerbating this challenging situation,” Frank Macchiarola, senior vice president for policy, economics and regulatory affairs at the American Petroleum Institute, said in a statement, adding:

Demand has returned as the economy comes back and is outpacing supply. Further impacting the imbalance is the continued decision from the administration to restrict access to America’s energy supply and cancel important infrastructure projects.

Rather than launching investigations on markets that are regulated and closely monitored on a daily basis or pleading with OPEC to increase supply, we should be encouraging the safe and responsible development of American-made oil and natural gas.

Something very peculiar is happening with our Strategic Petroleum Reserve

About 1.6 million barrels of crude from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve — a monthly
record — was shipped out in October, according to data from market intelligence firm Kpler.

All three supertankers went to Asia.

"Given the ongoing pace of the current SPR release — 12 million barrels in the last two months and the biggest weekly release so far last week at 3.1 million barrels — it's fair to assume more SPR barrels are going to leave U.S. shores in the weeks ahead," said Matt Smith, an oil analyst at Kpler.

As far as I can tell, the administration has not explained why, with Americans struggling to keep up with rising fuel prices, it's shipping our SPR to Asia. During the virtual meeting between Biden and Xi Jinping, the two men allegedly discussed releasing oil from both countries' petroleum reserves but made no mention of the sales to Asia that already took place.

It's becoming clearer daily that there is a clown in the White House, but it's not a cute, loving clown like Bozo (although I always found him kind of creepy). Instead, we're being led by the political equivalent of the Joker from the D.C. Comics, a mad man who wants to burn it all down.
