Biden to speak with Pelosi, Schumer on legislative agenda

President Biden is expected to hold a call with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Thursday to discuss the reconciliation package and the bipartisan infrastructure bill.
“He does plan to have a conversation today with Speaker Pelosi and Leader Schumer,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters during a briefing Thursday afternoon. “Certainly, moving the Build Back Better agenda forward, the infrastructure bill forward and the president’s legislative agenda forward will be the central part of the conversation today.”
Psaki said that the engagement would be virtual, as Pelosi is overseas meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Psaki said that Biden is “eager” to be engaged with lawmakers as they work through a messy process of passing the a massive $3.5 trillion package funding social programs and measures to fight climate change through budget reconciliation.
“We’re in the middle of the process, so the president knows that he is going to need to be, he’s eager to be, very engaged directly with senators, directly with leadership to move this forward,” Psaki said.
