Is there an adult in charge of the military? Please? How about getting every C130 we can get our hands on to Kabul airport, calling in European allies for a humanitarian evacuation? I know I'm a layperson but why can't this be happening like RIGHT NOW?

Lack of Air Power doomed the South Vietnamese at a time when armored Columns were sweeping south with massed troops from the North. It was a situation where air strikes could have delayed or eliminated those forces, perhaps better suited to being dealt with from the air than any other during the war.
Now, no-fly, MkII in Afghanistan, once again brought about by Democrats.

...and a likely factor in the significantly more rapid advance of the Taliban (lessened resistance coupled with the various tribes seeing where the wind was blowing and rolling fast over in order to survive.

A tree that can bend with the wind still stands when the wind stops.
One that cannot bend, will either prove to be well rooted and strong enough to stand or will be torn up and fall.

The President should return to the White House and address the nation. We were told this would be orderly, and it was not. I’d like an explanation.

Yeah, but the rest of the administration, including the ones who actually run things, are doing all this deliberately. Biden has nothing to do with any of this.

Can you say 'Dien Bien Phu'?  Once they land, how do you expect to get them back out?  You have one airport.  Not a military airbase, but a commercial airport.  At this point, you are sending 6,000 soldiers to their deaths.

I’m not an expert on military strategy, but I’m thinking the lesson is that you have two choices:  win and leave or win and take permanent possession.  Nothing else works.

When you learn that China wants to recognize the Taliban as a legitimate government, you understand why Biden wanted to pull US forces from Afghanistan against the recommendation of some military officials. China will significantly benefit while terror reigns.

China will gain access to tremendous mineral wealth, opium crops to ship to Mexico to send to the US, the ability to use the Taliban as a proxy force, to study any equipment abandoned by the US, from metallurgy and mechanics to code and system architecture, The Taliban, access to the technology the Chinese will give them, the benefits of Chinese manufacturing abilities, and the means/intel to carry out attacks globally.

Of course, both will use the other while the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, eventually planning on wiping out the other.
