Early results show Adams leading NYC mayoral primary as counting continues
By Tal Axelrod - 06/22/21 09:35 PM EDT

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams has taken an early lead in New York City's Democratic mayoral primary as votes continue to be tallied in a race that will be determined by ranked choice.

Adams had taken 30.9 percent of the vote in the first round with 88 percent of ballots tallied as of 11:23 p.m. ET. He led civil rights lawyer Maya Wiley with 21.7 percent and former New York City Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia with 20.5 percent. Former presidential candidate Andrew Yang came in fourth with 11.7 percent and conceded the race Tuesday evening.

The primary is the most consequential race in New York City in years, as the winner of the nominating contest will be virtually guaranteed a ticket to Gracie Mansion and tasked with grappling with a slew of pressing issues, including a rise in violent crime and the continued recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

But voters will likely be kept waiting into next month as the race’s ranked choice voting system plays out. Observers have speculated that a winner may not be formally declared until mid-July.

There is more than enough time for the socialists to steal the primary away from Adams.   That is why they instituted that "ranked" voting system.

Curtis Sliwa cruises to easy win over Mateo in Republican primary for NYC mayor

Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa cruised to a big victory as the Republican nominee for mayor, handily defeating rival Fernando Mateo following a feisty and entertaining primary fight, according to Board of Election returns released Tuesday night.

“Curtis won and we want to unite the Republican Party and we hope Fernando Mateo will join us,” Sliwa senior campaign adviser Rob Cole told the Post.

It was a rout.

Sliwa captured 68.8 percent or 34,758 of the Republican votes to 27 percent or 13,655 votes for Mateo, a restaurateur who advocates for bodega owners and taxi drivers.

More than 95 percent of the precincts were reporting.

With who ever goes up against Curtis, it should be interesting

Curtis was anything but boring when he was on WOR radio, first with his then wife Lisa, and later with Ron Kuby.

The question remains.  Is Adams a good Rat or a bad Rat?  In NYC most Rats are bad rats.

Adams got 30.5%, but "won" with 50.5% with so-called "Ranked choice" voting.

This is just an immediate run-off.  I do not understand the reasons against "ranked choice".

Would you rather spend money on multiple run-off elections doing the exact same thing with more opportunities to cheat, such as bring in additional voters?

A few years back, Joe Biden stated how he was a frequent patron of Home Depot in Wilmington, DE.  So Sliwa called up the Home Depot stores in Wilmington and asked when the last time Joe Biden was in the store.  It was hysterical.

Because since this country began, elections have been conducted, and the results based upon, "one man, one vote".

Did it occur to you that in the event that no candidate received a majority, that a runoff would reshape and re-focus the race, and also that a number of voters might change their opinions, and their ballots in the runoff?

Those "additional voters" you speak of... might be for our side, as well.

Opportunities "to cheat"?
What about the counting of the "ranked ballots", which will be done out-of-sight and itself subject to cheating of the first order?

Again, what kind of voting wizardry transforms 30% of the vote into 50.5%?

The candidate either got 30%, or he got 50%
NOT BOTH.

Anyone who is reading this post, say gently to yourself:
"One man, one vote".

What would you wish to change this to?

Maybe you don't understand ranked choice.

If your primary choice ends up at the bottom, and nobody gets over 50%, the votes for the "worst loser" move to those voters second choice.

The totals are added again, leaving out the first round biggest loser and counting those peoples second choice.  And repeated until someone tops 50%.

It is an instant run-off.  And only the people that show up for the election, get to participate in the run-off.
