Billions of microplastics particles are swirling around in the atmosphere

04/26/2021 / By Divina Ramirez

Experts consider plastic pollution as one of the most pressing environmental problems. Unfortunately, existing studies on microplastics – tiny pieces of plastic – have primarily focused on their impacts on rivers and oceans.

Now, a study led by researchers from Utah State University (USU) and Cornell University revealed that microplastics “spiral around the globe” in the atmosphere.

In fact, microplastics can linger in the air for up to a week, which is more than enough time for them to “travel” across entire continents. “The atmosphere is one of the reasons why microplastics are so widespread,” said study lead author Janice Brahney, an assistant professor of natural resources at USU.

I remember as a kid, in the 50s, the air was polluted with foundry smoke and slag, bits of particles from anything to do with manufacturing.  You could go to Detroit and your car would need to be washed to get rid of the ash, soot, plastic and God only knows what other carcinogens were wafting around.  But mercy of mercies, never had a problem with global warming until AFTER authorities started getting the air cleaned up.  Go figure, :thud:

What a bunch of bullshit.  Plastic is extremely stable, and does not lend itself to becoming a particulate in any scenario. Even buring it lends itself to near 100% total destrucion removal during the process.

Here is another laugher.....

1100 tons in the atmosphere in the western United States?  That's translates to basically 1100 tons of particulate in about roughly 6 million cubic miles of area.  How does stupid shit like this get published?
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.
