Johnson confronts Romney after vote on witnesses
By Scott Wong - 02/13/21 12:06 PM EST

Two Republican senators — Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Mitt Romney of Utah — got into a confrontation on the Senate floor Saturday after Romney voted with Democrats to allow witnesses in the impeachment trial of former President Trump.

Reporters sitting in the Senate gallery said they saw a “visibly upset” Johnson turn to Romney and point at him after the vote.

The two men then got into a back-and-forth, with Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) trying to play referee.

Voices were raised, and at one point Johnson was overheard saying he blamed Romney.

Johnson is a staunch Trump ally who argued the defense “eviscerated” the Democratic prosecutors and “blew their case out of the water.” Romney, a frequent Trump critic, voted to convict Trump on one count during last year’s impeachment trial. In the second trial, Romney voted both that the impeachment trial over whether Trump incited an insurrection on Jan. 6 was constitutional and for witnesses to be called.

Johnson on Saturday flashed his anger at reporters who later asked him about his exchange with Romney.

"Those are private. Those are private conversations," Johnson said.

Turtle still has years left in his term.  Until 2024 I think.

It's worse that that.  His term ends in 2027.  Good luck GOP.

Before I buy McConnell's assessment of moral responsibility, I'll wait for more information to come out pointing to McConnell and Pelosi knowing what was going to happen and setting up the President to take the fall.

This all stinks to high heaven.

In my opinion in the turtle is right because it was right if you if Trump is guilty of something in He should bcharged as a private citizen not as a president.

Well, there is that small matter of the immunity a sitting President enjoys.  I don't think he can be charged with crimes alleged during that 4 years.  I'm sure there are plenty of dire crimes the Rats can cook u from before he was President.  If the 14th Amendment challenge passes, or not, this will be the next game.

Turtle is clear full of shit, trying to have it both ways for another 4 years.

I wonder what Trump knows about him that has McConnell so nervous he's compelled to politically kill the former president.

I believe Trump knows a lot about many people; so many want him to just go away. In reality, Trump had no one who was willing to help bring them down.

I don't know what to think anymore.  One day at a time.  For now, Trump was acquitted.  That's one positive that I'm trying to focus on.

There may indeed be a factor immunity but technically there’s not immunity you can be charged as a private citizen.

Trump welcomes impeachment acquittal, says his movement ‘has only just begun’
Fox News 8, Feb 13, 2021

Read the whole statement below:

Quote
I want to first thank my team of dedicated lawyers and others for their tireless work upholding justice and defending truth.

My deepest thanks as well to all of the United States Senators and Members of Congress who stood proudly for the Constitution we all revere and for the sacred legal principles at the heart of our country.

Our cherished Constitutional Republic was founded on the impartial rule of law, the indispensable safeguard for our liberties, our rights and our freedoms.

It is a sad commentary on our times that one political party in America is given a free pass to denigrate the rule of law, defame law enforcement, cheer mobs, excuse rioters, and transform justice into a tool of political vengeance, and persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree.  I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honorably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate.

This has been yet another phase of the greatest witch hunt in the history of our Country. No president has ever gone through anything like it, and it continues because our opponents cannot forget the almost 75 million people, the highest number ever for a sitting president, who voted for us just a few short months ago.

I also want to convey my gratitude to the millions of decent, hardworking, law-abiding, God-and-Country loving citizens who have bravely supported these important principles in these very difficult and challenging times.

Our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun. In the months ahead I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our incredible journey together to achieve American greatness for all of our people. There has never been anything like it!

We have so much work ahead of us, and soon we will emerge with a vision for a bright, radiant, and limitless American future.

Together there is nothing we cannot accomplish.

We remain one People, one family, and one glorious nation under God, and it’s our responsibility to preserve this magnificent inheritance for our children and for generations of Americans to come.

May God bless all of you, and may God forever bless the United States of America.

-Donald J. Trump

They're all placing their bets now, all-in.

Let the fools jockey for position.  No GOP seat is safe.  No state with a GOP governor is safe; that's their next target. FL being their #1 target.  DeSantis is a popular governor and that is where the Trump families reside.  Shut down FL and destroy its economy and prevent any of his family from holding political office.

Here's McConnell's speech .... if you can stomach it.  (I still think Trump uncovered something really bad on McConnell because it makes no sense to vote to acquit and then spew this)
