Steve Jobs' Widow: 'Not Right for Individuals to Accumulate Massive Wealth'; Did I Mention She's Worth $27.5 Billion?
By Mike Miller | Dec 31, 2020 1:30 PM ET

I’m generally amused by “rich people” telling us how obscene it is for the rest of us to be “rich.” Denizens of Planet Hollywood Looney Tunes come to mind. Then we have the ultra-rich; the rich people whose net worth statements begin with a “B” — vs. a measly “M.”

One such billionaire is Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple founder Steve Jobs, who not only clocks in somewhere north of $27.5 billion but also believes “there’s nothing fair about accumulating a massive amount of wealth” — as the world’s 35th richest person pontificated earlier this year during an interview with The New York Times.

Quote
“”It’s not right for individuals to accumulate a massive amount of wealth that’s equivalent to millions and millions of other people combined. There’s nothing fair about that.

“We saw that at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries with the Rockefellers and Carnegies and Mellons and Fords of the world. That kind of accumulation of wealth is dangerous for a society. It shouldn’t be this way.”

Not to worry, Laurene.   Once the commies get rolling with full control over ALL Americans, they'll eliminate that little problem of common folks having too much money and will just confiscate it, including yours.  It's what commies do, after all.

Steve's hygiene was gross, and his personality was worse.  She earned every cent of it.

That's probably one of the weirdest statements I've ever read considering the source.

She got her doctorate from the same school Jill Biden did.

Who appointed her God?
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

If you cannot claim what you rightfully earn as yours, you are nothing but a slave to someone else.

Yeah, but she (and many others like her) didn't "rightfully earn" it. She inherited it.

I don't begrudge her wealth. She didn't steal it from anyone, and this IS still America.

Plus, she has already made a leap in logic and seems to understand how too much wealth in the hands of so few people is dangerous to society.

BUT........,what do you people who seem to be jealous of her wealth suggest she do with it,give it away?

WHAT,if anything would change if she gave every nickel away to charity and then secluded herself to live a life of poverty in a convent somewhere?

Not a single damn thing, other than the fact that she would be living in virtual poverty herself.

Do ANY of you REALLY think her donating her entire fortune to charity would change a single damn thing, including how much YOU pay in taxes each year?

For all the "good" it would do in a real sense as far as easing the tax burden of the working class,or ending poverty, she might as well set it on fire.

The goobermint bureaucracy  in WELL entrenched, and those people and their jobs ain't going anywhere.

How many of you REALLY think that if she,Bill Gates, and others in that financial category were to give ALL their money to charity or the government, that a single damn government  welfare agency would shut their doors?

Or that any of them would even cut their work forces?

Frankly,I don't know WHAT "the answer" is because one of the dictates of human nature is that the more you give to people, the more they want you to give to them.

Before we can change government policies when it comes to government aid we need to change the mindset of the "career government aid recipients",and frankly I don't have the first clue as to how we would go about doing so.

MAYBE if this were 1920 instead of 2020,but by now it has became too accepted and is entrenched in both government and the minds of the people as acceptable and necessary.

I am sure there must be answers to my questions that could "turn that ship around",but *I* am not smart enough to come up with the answers.

Are you suggesting an inheritance should be taken away from someone?

Why is inheriting something not rightfully yours?

Really want to see an example of the ultimate of liberal hypocricy?  Job's widow's faux foundation is being a charity run for profit.

I don't think she should give away every penny but it is bordering on asinine and tone deaf to make such a statement if you are not also presenting a plan on how you are going to practice what you preach with your own wealth. I certainly don't agree with most of the ways Gates is using his wealth but he and others have a plan in progress to use that wealth in charitable or other ways beneficial to mankind. I see her statements as just so much ego stroking  and do as I say not as I do that the liberals are so proficient at.

I don't begrudge her wealth either @sneakypete . I don't care how or where she attained it. Magic unicorn droppings or planting a $1000 tree seed in the backyard...or inheritance. Makes no difference to me.

The hypocrasy is a bit off putting.

I sailed asked:
"Are you suggesting an inheritance should be taken away from someone?
Why is inheriting something not rightfully yours?"

Wait until the communists consolidate their power here.
How much "inheritance" was there in the old Soviet Union...?
