My son Jonathan's captain when he was in Iraq died yesterday.

He was a police Sgt with the Kenosha Police Dept...he was a tactical officer very involved in the Kenosha demonstrations a few months ago...

Trevor...was snowmobiling with is brother in Wis when he took a sharp turn and went straight into a tree..

He was a wonderful person..I used to send him care packages when he was in Iraq...please pray for his family..he leaves a wife and 2 very young children...

My son is having a very hard time with this as they were close friends.

Bruce Kirby, Character Actor in ‘Columbo’ and ‘L.A. Law,’ Dies at 95

Bruce Kirby, a character actor best known for his roles in “Columbo” and “Stand by Me,” died in Los Angeles on Sunday. He was 95.

Kirby’s son, John Kirby, announced the news on Facebook on Monday.

“Thank you Dad for everything you taught me about acting and how to have such a strong work ethic while sharing your love for the arts and the craft of it all,” John wrote. “I will miss you & love you always. I’m glad you’re up there with Bruno and so many of our loved ones.”

Kirby, born Bruno Giovanni Quidaciolu, began his career at the Actor’s Studio in New York and studied under the famed acting coach Lee Strasberg. He debuted on stage in the 1950s and then launched a steady career in television primarily playing smaller roles as unimposing law enforcement figures.

One of those actors, along with his son who was in a lot of films and television but you can’t recall the name, but recognize the face. I do recall him from “Columbo”. RIP.

James M. White, the owner of the Broken Spoke, has passed away at the age of 81. White had recently undergone surgery for a leaky heart valve, according to the dance hall's Facebook page.

"He had a dream actually dreamed of the Broken Spoke. He wanted a place where people can go dance, have a good time, and listen to kind of music he loved which was a Honky Tonk," said Texas Musician Dale Watson.

Apparently the driver (who may have been Sammy himself...) had the bus in reverse when he thought it was in drive (or vice-versa, it happened in 2005 and I'm relying on my imperfect memory), and when he hit the gas pedal the bus went through the wall before he could stop it.  Part of the lore of "old Austin" that is fading away more every year.

Cloris Leachman Dead at 94

Cloris Leachman -- the incredibly talented and hilarious actress and comedian, who starred in some of the biggest movies and TV shows ever -- has died ... TMZ has learned.

Leachman passed away of natural causes Tuesday night at her home in Encinitas, California, with her daughter, Dinah, by her side ... this according to her son.

He tells us ... "She had the best life beginning to end that you could wish for someone." He adds that she was at peace, and "she left everyone with a lot of love."

John Chaney, Longtime Temple Coach and Hall of Famer, dies at 89

Former Temple coach and Hall of Famer John Chaney has died, The Athletic's Dana O'Neil confirmed. He was 89 years old.

Chaney coached Temple for 24 years, guiding the Owls to 23 winning seasons, 17 NCAA Tournament appearances and five Elite Eights. He won 516 games as Owls coach from 1982-2006, taking the job after 10 seasons at Division II Cheyney State.

He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001.

Chaney's Temple teams won eight Atlantic-10 regular-season titles and six conference tournaments. He won the Henry Iba Award, given to college basketball's coach of the year, in 1987 and 1988. ...

Dustin Diamond, Saved by the Bell’s ‘Screech,’ Dead at 44

Dustin Diamond, who portrayed lovable nerd Samuel “Screech” Powers across four incarnations of Saved by the Bell from 1988 to 2000, died Monday after a three-week battle with carcinoma. He was 44. Diamond’s agent, Roger Paul, confirmed the actor’s death to Rolling Stone.

“He was diagnosed with this brutal, relentless form of malignant cancer only three weeks ago,” Paul said in a statement. “In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution. Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful.

“Dustin Diamond was a character in and of himself: an unpredictable spitfire who always left us shocked, but never left us bored,” Paul added. “We please ask that you give room for privacy to our team and Mr. Diamond’s family during this tragic time, as we grieve and remember the memories spent together. This loss is as much stinging as it is sudden.”

Hal Holbrook, the actor best known for his amazingly accurate portrayal of Mark Twain in the renowned one-man show he performed on stages for more than five decades, has died. He was 95.

Holbrook's former wife Carol Rossen confirmed his death. The New York Times said he died Jan. 23 at his home in Beverly Hills.

Holbrook's Tony Award-winning Twain re-creation on Broadway in 1966 was part of an acting career that spanned stage, movies and television. He first encountered Twain when he portrayed the legendary author and humorist in a two-person sketch that was part of a multi-character revue Holbrook and his first wife took on a high school assembly tour of the Southwest in the late 1940s. ...

On television, he won Emmy Awards for his 1970-`71 dramatic series, “The Senator,” the 1973 TV movie “Pueblo” (for which he won Emmys for actor of the year — special, and best lead actor in a drama) and the 1974 miniseries “Sandburg's Lincoln.”

RIP.  He only played one role I ever cared for, when he was in Midway.  The roles I remember are villain roles, and I just did not like him.  Maybe he was just that good.  I enjoyed it thoroughly when he drove off with an explosive in the back seat of Magnum Force after threatening Harry Callahan, and blew up a short distance away.

Leon Spinks, ex-heavyweight champ who upset Muhammad Ali, dies at 67

Leon Spinks, who surprised the boxing world by beating Muhammad Ali for the world heavyweight title in 1978, died Friday night at age 67, according to the Firm PR, a public relations firm that represents him.

Spinks, who had been suffering from prostate and other cancers for five years, died with his wife, Brenda Glur Spinks, by his side, the firm said.

The St. Louis native, a former Marine who won a gold medal as a light heavyweight at the 1976 Olympics, was just 13 months and eight fights into his pro boxing career when he stepped into a ring against Ali on Feb. 15, 1978, in Las Vegas.

George P. Shultz, counsel and Cabinet member for two Republican presidents, dies at 100

George P. Shultz, one of only two people to serve the United States in four Cabinet-level posts and a major force in economic and foreign policy in two Republican administrations, died Feb. 6 at his home in Stanford, Calif. He was 100.

The Hoover Institution at Stanford University, where Dr. Shultz was long affiliated after stepping down as secretary of state in 1989, announced the death but did not give a cause.

Dr. Shultz’s prodigious inside knowledge of the U.S. government was rivaled by few figures in recent memory, and his soft-spoken, cerebral manner obscured his strong conservative views about the wisdom of keeping spending under control, limiting government regulation and vigorously confronting terrorists.

He was famously a pragmatist on some of the consequential issues he faced while in power. As President Ronald Reagan’s secretary of state, Dr. Shultz played a critical role in the dramatic easing of tensions between the United States and Soviet Union that took place during the late 1980s.

I see good news in these obits.

No,I am NOT happy that ANY of these people are dying. The good news is that so many of them are in their 90's, and lived normal lifestyles. ALL of them grew up drinking,smoking,and having a good time,even if they quit those vices later in life.

I am also happy that so many of them were only incapacitated/stuck in bed unable to care for themselves for a short time before they passed.

When I was born in the late 40's,most people were dying in their 60's and early 70's,and these were normal people living normal lives who basically worked,and then came home at the end of the day. They weren't heavy drinkers or drug users,and most were in bed sleeping my 11 PM so they could get up in the morning and go to work.

Who can put a price on the value of the "extra" 20 years or so of life these people got to enjoy with their families,or the joy their families got from them?

A dear friend of mine had two forms of terminal cancer, given 2-3 months to live.  He ended up taking mega doses of shark cartilage, and his prostate cancer went completely away, and his multiple myeloma went into full remission.  He lived 5.5 years and died of something other than the cancer.

I saw this repeated many times, folks who had months to live, American doctors offering nothing from a therapeutic perspective, and they took alternative approaches and lived, and many returned to health.

  It's only going to get worse with the globalist bankers buying up all the local hospitals,which means buying out all the local doctors,and establishing "corporate rule" over doctors decisions when it comes to treatment approaches.

I have seen my local hospital take this route,and it is now impossible for me to even get an appointment with the vascular surgeon that saved my leg in 1982 because he was bought out too,and is now a member of the Medical Borg. If I call him I end up getting an appointment at a "wound clinic" owned by the hospital,and some minimum wage employee just changes my bandage and sends me home,billing me more than the vascular surgeon used to bill me. When I went back the second time,it was the same thing. They made me another appointement and I told them when they did I would see an actual doctor or I would never return,I did get to see a doctor. She was smug and arrogant,and didn't listen to a single word I had to say. I got the same result,a new bandage and sent home with an appoitment to come back in a week and have it changed.

What they were doing was using the least amount of effort to drain my bank account in slow motion without ever actually having to do anything for me. After all,it ain't like I can't change a bandage at home myself.

George Shultz, who served as Secretary of State for Ronald Reagan for six years, died yesterday at age 100.

Reagan assumed the presidency at a time when the existence of the Soviet Union and its domination of eastern Europe was regarded as an immutable fact of world politics. Taking office after Alexander Haig, Shultz helped implement Reagan’s vision of containing and rolling back communism across the globe. From supporting Solidarity in Poland, to backing anticommunist rebels in Reagan Doctrine countries like Afghanistan and Nicaragua, to the liberation of Grenada, to deploying intermediate nuclear missiles in Europe, to a hundred other policies, the Reagan Administration pressed Soviet communism in ways that would eventually force not only the liberation of Eastern Europe, but the demise of the Soviet Union itself. Shultz would play a key role in keeping American allies onboard with the program, and eventually in negotiations with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev that would lead to the end of the Cold War.

Compared to Haig, Shultz was a low-key, drama-free professional who skillfully kept a wide variety of western governments broadly aligned with American goals, and for that he deserves credit. That he was wrong about much outside the Cold War (the gold standard, carbon taxes, and Brexit, to name but three) should not take away from his central achievement. With James A. Baker III, Secretary of State under Bush 41 (who largely followed the policies laid down under Reagan), Shultz presided over the most successful period of post-World War II diplomacy in American history, and his achievements were far more lasting than those under flashier Secretaries of State like Henry Kissinger or Colin Powell.

It's all part of "managing" disease, instead of curing it.

That's part of the reason I am especially skeptical of the vaccine for COVID, in that treatments which do work are being actively suppressed, and the vaccine is being pushed hard, despite the tendency for respiratory viruses to mutate (part of the reason no vaccine is available for the common cold).

Millie Hughes-Fulford, a barrier-breaking astronaut and scientific researcher whose passion for space was formed as a child in Mineral Wells looking up at the stars, died Thursday following a seven-year battle with cancer, her daughter told the Star-Telegram. She was 75.

Hughes-Fulford shattered a glass ceiling in 1991 when she became the first female payload specialist to fly in space for NASA, launching into orbit on the shuttle Columbia as part of the first-ever mission dedicated to biomedical studies, STS-40. In the specialized role, dedicated to conducting on-board research, the trained chemist helped complete more than 18 experiments over a nine-day period, gathering more medical data than any mission up to that point. She circled the earth 146 times.

Hustler magazine mogul Larry Flynt has died at the age of 78.

Family sources told TMZ the publisher passed away on Wednesday morning in Los Angeles from heart failure.

Flynt had been regarded as one of the biggest names in the adult film industry for 50 years after launching Hustler back in 1974.

His notoriety led to him being shot in 1978 in a murder attempt by serial killer Joseph Paul Franklin. ...
