No, they were already off the edge. It has only become apparent how far off they are.
There is no perfidy too great for them to assume power, after all they have been saying "the ends justify the means" for decades, and have repeatedly said "there is nothing off the table".
Their soft coup (shampeachment) was a dismal failure.
The riots in the streets haven't worked (no "revolution", and have only energized a million well-armed Americans itching and ready to end that crap the second the Government says to go for it.), so the coup d'etat using the very Chinese Communist (lab manufactured) biowar agent seems likely, not some far out fantasy.
The question is who and how, and contaminated testing materials seem a likely vector because someone symptomatic would have been picked up in screening. Other fomites would have been too random and unreliable, and not likely to achieve successful infection of the key people.
