Why do we keep using Juke Box I ???

Uh......because it's filled with all my favorite music.   And, because it has a history and I don't do change very well.

And like any Marine....I promised Lando that I'd never leave it behind.

What's the problem?

Perhaps you or Mystery ought consider joining both together as just number I since II is no longer very active, I only started it to speed up loading, and my ego is not involved in any change anyway. Just thought it was a good idea at the time but don't really care one way or the other.

And likewise, my not posting on Juke Box II wasn't anything personal.

As far as pages loading....the reason is the pages are too long....for example page 73 has what? 20 posts on it....and they all have to load before you can see the 'latest post'.

.....but it's worth it.    :patriot:

I just get around the whole pages too long thing by going to my settings and setting the posts-per-page to 10. Even on my tiny Android laptop that works nicely.

I mentioned this guy on the Jukebox from Hell... here's his better work:

By the way, admins... can we change the title of the thread back to The Juke Box, now that there's only one again?

Hello, it's me
I've thought about us for a long, long time
Maybe I think too much but something's wrong
There's something here that doesn't last too long
Maybe I shouldn't think of you as mine

Seeing you
Or seeing anything as much as I do you
I take for granted that you're always there
I take for granted that you just don't care
Sometimes I can't help seeing all the way through
It's important to me
That you know you are free
'Cause I never want to make you change for me

Think of me
You know that I'd be with you if I could
I'll come around to see you once in a while
Or if I ever need a reason to smile
And spend the night if you think I should
It's important to me
That you know you are free
'Cause I never want to make you change for me

Think of me
You know that I'd be with you if I could
I'll come around to see you once in a while
Or if I ever need a reason to smile
And spend the night if you think I should
Think of me...
Think of me...
Think of me

Actual performance starts at about 2:05....but the prelude is pretty cool.

Their album (they didn't have CD's back then)....Abandoned Luncheonette...discovered it back in 1976 I believe.

Tommy Curtis....an FM disc jockey played "When the Morning Comes" as his theme song on a Washington, DC station.

My two little brothers opened a bar in Buffalo, NY and I brought that album up there and played it in the sound booth.  Whenever I played that song...at least a dozen people would come up and ask who it was...this was a bar that was so crowded that it took you ten minutes to reach the rest room only 30 feet away.

So, I 'discovered' Hall & Oates!    :silly:

Here's that song, When the Morning Comes......one of the finest ever!!

Down to You......Joni Mitchell

Songwriters: MITCHELL, JONI
Everything comes and goes
Marked by lovers and styles of clothes
Things that you held high
And told yourself were true
Lost or changing as the days come down to you
Down to you
Constant stranger
You're a kind person
You're a cold person too
It's down to you
It all comes down to you.
You go down to the pick up station
Craving warmth and beauty
You settle for less than fascination
A few drinks later you're not so choosy
When the closing lights strip off the shadows
On this strange new flesh you've found
Clutching the night to you like a fig leaf
You hurry
To the blackness
And the blankets
To lay down an impression
And your loneliness

In the morning there are lovers in the street
They look so high
You brush against a stranger
And you both apologize
Old friends seem indifferent
You must have brought that on
Old bonds have broken down
Love is gone
Ooh, love is gone
Written on your spirit this sad song
Love is gone

Everything comes and goes
Pleasure moves on too early
And trouble leaves too slow
Just when you're thinking
You've finally got it made
Bad news comes knocking
At your garden gate
Knocking for you
Constant stranger
You're a brute-you're an angel
You can crawl-you can fly too
It's down to you
It all comes down to you

And to 2 of my ancestors in the 11th NC under Pettigrew- there motto was first at Bethel, furthest at Gettysburg, and last at Appomattox.  One died on the first day at Gettysburg, and the other captured later in the war. Several other known  ancestors we in SC regiments, and had family living in Kentucky and Illinois at the time, so we had Federal troops in the family as well.

It’s from Ken Burn’s Civil War Series. Ashoken Farewell was written in the 20th  century  however,  but very much in the style of the Scots Irish melodies popular on both sides during the Civil War. Some on the youtube threads claim this song is from the Civil War and remember Gramps playing in on the violin – who knows?
Just the same,  It is haunting and beautiful at the same time and does get you to think about all the young boys in blue and gray who were so horribly slaughtered on the field of battle.

Our current world.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUjUIP2ugG4

Sing me a song, you're a singer
Do me a wrong, you're a bringer of evil
The Devil is never a maker
The less that you give, you're a taker
So it's on and on and on
...it's Heaven and Hell, oh well

The lover of life's not a sinner
The ending is just a beginner
The closer you get to the meaning
The sooner you'll know that you're dreaming
So it's on and on and on
Oh it's on and on and on
It goes on and on and on, Heaven and Hell
I can tell, fool, fool!

Well, if it seems to be real, it's illusion
For every moment of truth, there's confusion in life
Love can be seen as the answer
But nobody bleeds for the dancer
And it's on and on, on and on and on....

They say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of Kings and Queens
Who blind your eyes then steal your dreams
...it's Heaven and Hell, oh well

And they'll tell you black is really white
The moon is just the sun at night
And when you walk in golden halls
You get to keep the gold that falls
It's Heaven and Hell

No no fool, fool!
You got to bleed for the dancer!
Fool, fool, look for the answer!
Fool, fool, fool!
The universe doesn't hate you. Unless your name is Tsutomu Yamaguchi
