I dare you NOT to sing along!!

I'm comin' home, I've done my time
Now I've got to know what is and isn't mine
If you received my letter telling you I'd soon be free
Then you'll know just what to do
If you still want me
If you still want me

Whoa, tie a yellow ribbon 'round the ole oak tree
It's been three long years
Do ya still want me (still want me)
If I don't see a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree
I'll stay on the bus
Forget about us
Put the blame on me
If I don't see a yellow ribbon 'round the ole oak tree

Bus driver, please look for me
'cause I couldn't bear to see what I might see
I'm really still in prison
And my love, she holds the key
A simple yellow ribbon's what I need to set me free
I wrote and told her please

Whoa, tie a yellow ribbon 'round the ole oak tree
It's been three long years
Do ya still want me (still want me)
If I don't see a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree
I'll stay on the bus
Forget about us
Put the blame on me
If I don't see a yellow ribbon 'round the ole oak tree

[Instrumental Interlude]

Now the whole damned bus is cheerin'
And I can't believe I see
A hundred yellow ribbons 'round the ole oak tree

I'm comin' home, mmm, mmm

(Tie a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree)
(Tie a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree)
(Tie a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree)

(Tie a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree)
(Tie a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree)
(Tie a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree)

I have wondered that for a decade.  There HAS to be someone willing and daring enough to reintroduce this music.

What is amazing is when you read the comments on youtube there is more and more young kids commenting on the music from the 50's, 60's and 70's and 70's and lamenting they don't have anything like this to listen to today....

BTW I have over 2000 songs on my itunes and none of it is hip-hop or rap ~LOL~

LOL!  Yes....back before this thread reached puberty, Rapunzel and I had a debate of sorts over who sang "Cry Me A River" better.....Julie London or Diane Krall.

One good Johnny Mathis deserves another. Of the many, many songs of his posted on Youtube this is one of my favorites, so here 'tis.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbLdHrRv2Wg

A biographical note of not much consequence but I almost met Mr Mathis once. When I was in the Army I was stationed in Korea and Mr Mathis came to the base (Camp Casey, for those who know) where I was stationed. I was in the facility in which he was to sing when he walked in, but I simply did not have the nerve to walk up to him and say something like, "Welcome to Korea" and shake his hand. One of my favorite all time singers and I punked out. Lol. Anyway I did enjoy his performance and it was free 'cause it was sponsored by the USO.

Return with me now to yesteryear and the early roots of rock and roll. From 1957 The Coaster's "Searchin''. Even the recording, probably kinescope, is old with a young Steve Allen doing the intro.
