That was a quote and a link to a thread/post that was NOT one of mine this thread.  I didn't go around posting that anywhere else (except to the Redskins thread as a link to this thread)...how is that spamming?  Is it spamming when I post links to this thread on other threads/forums?

Just sayin', famous and DCP...MUD

You are correct.  Guess I'm just too dense to understand the message.

MUD....you posted Lando's entire lyrics just above it.....but felt the need to post a portion of that again.

Now....what if I were driving down the highway, and got an instant message that somebody posted to this thread to which I am subscribed.

Take your life in your hands to only find out that your posting a psalm on a F*CKING jubebox thread????

This was a big crossover hit, country to pop/soft rock. Possibly because the story is so touching, the lyrics so clever, and the mellow voice of the late Marty Robbins. Well, that, and Marty's shirt is to die for.

Hate to end on a down note but it is sad to realize that 2 of the major figures in that movie, Patrick Swayze and Jerry Ohrbach, are no longer with us.

I needed cuff links. Stopped at a pawn shop near where I get my hair cut. Asked for cuff-links to the 20 something guy working there. He laughed, and said, "cuff-links? No." So I left.

While unlocking my car the same guy comes out of the shop yelling to me. He says, Yeah! Yes we have some. Ok. I go back in and he pulls out a set of beautiful glinting Tiffany Sterling silver cuff links. (blank) My goodness! That was just exactly what I was looking for. He says, $100. I said no way.

Who is going to buy those?, says I. You have a guy in the store, with cash, ready to buy, but I will not pay more than $20. He does the standard, "I have to talk to the manager" routine. Ok.

He comes back and says, 'the manager wants $40.' Couldn't get the money out fast enough. And now I own them. I'm in a pretty good mood. Already planning to have them engraved at 'Things Remembered' in the mall. Really cool.

I celebrate the small things with timeless music and a wee bit of Scotch on a hot lazy spring afternoon.

They are Sterling from Tiffany and .932. On the receipt the transaction is listed as a metals transaction. He lists the weight and sterling silver transferred at ... etc. I guess I just got lucky and the pawn shop guys have no idea what cuff-links are and thought they would never sell them. I may have saved them from the melt-down pile.

But I think I would like something on them. They are the octogonal blanks. I don't know. They are brand new and I'm still kicking the idea around. Thank you for your comment though.

You have made me think about it.

Glenn Miller...splendid. But what I really wanted to say how cool it is you wear shirts that require cuff links. In my misspent youth I was a bartender for a time and wore french cuffs with links every day. I am hardly a clothes horse, far from it, but have always felt that look on a man is just so sophisticated.

Paul Fredrick was having a sale on monogrammed, tailored, shirts, so I bought three. I don't know which one of us chose the French cuffs, but that is how they came. So, I had three amazing shirts that I could not wear because I had no cufflinks. I guess I solved that problem today, with the grace of God.

Looking forward to the new world of PF cuff linked shirts. I hear the ladies love them...

Before you have the Tiffany links engraved, perhaps have a jeweler look at them.  (BTW, there are lots of engraveable cuff links available via Amazon, if you want to try the engraving out on something less rare).  And thanks for the Glenn Miller tune -- my aunt loved the big band era so much.

And yes, cuff links are very classy for men without being metro.

Another major turn in listening pleasure. Powerful gospel music. Hard to believe but this song was a popular hit back when released. By that I mean it was played on the top 40s shows of the day and everybody knew of it.

It's also easy to see how the hymns sung in black churches became one of the streams that was to create what became known as "rock and roll". Many black singers, especially the females, came out of this tradition.
