The idea that somebody looked at a purple onion and called it a red onion really bothers me.

BTW if you have Netflix there is quite a bit of Chris Issak material there, including the TV series which was loosely based on his life... you will recogize his drummer

Joni Mitchell - Both Sides Now 2000 lives

That is good, but I think I prefer the Neal Diamond version  -- I have been a Neal Diamond fan as long as I can remember.

Both Sides Now lyrics

Rolls and flows of angel hair,
Ice cream castles in the air,
Feather canyons everywhere,
I've looked at clouds that way.
But now they only block the sun.
They rain, they snow on everyone.
So many things I would've done
But clouds got in my way.

I've looked at clouds from both sides now,
From up and down and still somehow
It's clouds' illusions I recall.
I really don't know clouds at all.

Moons and Junes and ferris wheels,
The dizzy, dancing way you feel
As every fairy tale comes real.
I've looked at love that way.
But now it's just another show.
Leave 'em laughin' when you go.
But if you care, don't let em' know
(From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/n/neil-diamond-lyrics/both-sides-now-lyrics.html)
Don't give yourself away.

I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall.
I really don't know love at all.

Tears and fears and feeling proud,
Say "I love you" right out loud.
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way.
But now old friends are acting strange.
They shake their heads and say I've changed.
But something's lost when somethings gained
Living everyday.

I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall.
I really don't know life at all.

Well it was great dance music, but the instrumentals were pretty outstanding. Too bad the group had a falling out and broke up and then due to threatened lawsuits Fogerty didn't perform the music in his shows for years and years...

I watched The Buddy Holly show last night and you really get the sense of what a talented musican he was.  He was a real groundbreaker of our day and probably the first to insist on total artistic control over every aspect of his music and recordings. To think he only lived two years after he hit the bigtime one has to wonder what his body of work would have been had he lived his full natural life.
