But, if it is any consolation, Trump can proceed with the nomination even after the election.

It is my opinion, even though I will seem like a nut, that RBG died or became incapacitated weeks or even months ago.
The only reason the Dems would allow her death to be announced now is that they had no choice.
There was no possible way to stall any longer.
RBG, or at least someone who looked like her, has not been seen since August and that was only a photo of her at a wedding for family friends.

Texas Democrat Wendy Davis is silent as her former Chief Technology Officer, John Lee Brougher, was one of several Democrats to smear Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s adopted children from Haiti Friday night.

In a tweet, Brougher joined other Democrat activists in smearing Barrett for adopting children from Haiti. President Donald Trump is expected Saturday evening to formally nominate Barrett to succeed the late liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the U.S. Supreme Court.

“As an adoptee, I need to know more about the circumstances of how Amy Coney Barrett came to adopt her children, and the treatment of them since,” Brougher wrote. “Transracial adoption is fraught with trauma and potential for harm, and everything I see here is deeply concerning.”

I think this is an excellent pick..(Go Irish) but a judicial conservative is not the same thing as a political conservative...
With time, IMO,  she will become a bit more "judicis" than Roberts but will maintain the Roberts philosophy that the legislative and not the judicial branch makes law..
The SC will not overrule  previous decisions but will give more latitude to the states..that "Stare Dicisis" thing..

Ginsburg was a partisan democrat who repeatedly trashed the republican nominee in 2016.  Were she a lower court judge, it would have violated the code of conduct.  Anyway, Schumer's language is reprehensible ... not sure when he's due for a dirt nap, but I won't shed a tear when it happens!
