Pretty blatantly ignorant of what the world was becoming back then.
Statements like that make me irate as it just ignores how disastrous it would have been for us during WW2 following Japan's sneak attack. That quickly showed how much your isolationship strategy would have worked. To avoid recognizing evil is to embrace Chamberlain

Hmm..........so what 'had the world become' in 1914???
* Great Britain was the world's ranking economic power,
* Germany, unified for barely 40 years, was a rising power,
* Austria was vexed by cultural, ethnic and religious rivalries,
* Russia was in pervasive economic and military decline,
* France was in a seething rage from their trashing in the Franco-Prussian War,
* the USA, economically powerful, was mercifully self-isolated and uninterested.
And so we had compelling reason to intervene in the Great War??????????????
Predictable sanctimonious malarkey.
The primary responsibility for any nation/state, expecting to survive and thrive,
is the self-interest of its people.
