Soviet Military Power was lavishly-illustrated, easy to read and brimming with dire warnings about Moscow’s overwhelming military might.
It also was naked propaganda chock full inaccurate or misleading data, unfair comparisons and outright lies. “It painted the knowable in the most aggressive manner, and the unknowable as unknowable, but unknowable in the worst possible way,†journalist Kyle Mizokami explained.
