A Portland Antifa group has claimed responsibility for torching a politician's car on Jan. 12. 

In a blog post to its page, the Antifa group said it burned Portland City Commissioner Rene Gonzalez's car as "an act of community self-defense and a form of mutual aid" and that their "only regret is not attacking the other two vehicles" belonging to the residence. 

"This was accomplished with a fire starter, which can be found in the outdoors section of any big box store,” the blog post stated.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — In March, Portland Commissioner Dan Ryan and the Regional Arts and Culture Council will meet to discuss how the city might bring back some of the monuments toppled or removed during the 2020 protests.

The spokesperson for Commissioner Ryan’s office Mark Jamieson told KOIN 6 News that Ryan and the Regional Arts and Culture Council will ultimately present their recommendations to the Portland City Council. These recommendations will likely include plans to work with the Historic Landmarks Commission to formally remove the “Promised Land” and “Harvey Scott” statues, and also reintroduce some of the city’s toppled presidents.

“The report will likely recommend the return of presidents George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt with new interpretative and educational elements,” Jamieson said. ...

The city estimates that it will cost $775,000 to repair the damaged Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, “Promised Land” and Harvey Scott monuments. ...

A Portland bartender has been found guilty on hate crime and harassment charges for misgendering and physically confronting a trans-identified biological male who had been using the women's restroom.

On Wednesday, Multnomah County Circuit Court found Cassie McIntyre, 40, guilty of second-degree bias crime and harassment following a two-day jury trial. Judge Christopher Marshall sentenced McIntyre to two years of probation and 50 hours of community service, per the Oregonian.

McIntyre was accused of "misgendering" and physically shoving 35-year-old Riis Larsen, a trans-identified biological male and self-described Marxist who uses pronouns that include she/her/hers/theirs, during a confrontation that turned physical at the Sellwood bar on Dec. 27, 2022.

McIntyre, a bartender at Sellwood bar, had just completed her shift and sat down to have a drink when she reportedly heard patrons complaining that Larsen had cut in line to use the women's single-stall restroom and pushed other patrons in the process, court documents show.

Larsen testified in court on Tuesday that she was physically confronted by McIntyre upon exiting the women's restroom. Larsen claimed that McIntyre had cornered her and told her that she "was a man" and needed to use the men's restroom.

Larsen said that she attempted to explain her "gender identity" to McIntyre but was shoved by the bartender and told to "get out." ...

A Jewish woman in downtown Portland was pursued and threatened by Antifa after attending a rally against Hamas. The woman had to ask two men to help her get to her car.

Antifa repeatedly referenced the victim's perceived race and called her and the men helping her "fascists," "white supremacists" and "zionists." I moved from the area (Vancouver, WA, just across the river) just a few months ago but I probably went into Portland only a few times during the day for the last ten years. You could just see the city decline, the freeways were lined with tents and there was trash everywhere. It's been a no-go zone and it'll never get any better.

Schmidt, the current prosecuting atty, can take credit for Portland having become such a $#!thole.

On Tuesday night, voters in Multnomah County, Oregon fired one-term George Soros-backed incumbent District Attorney Mike Schmidt.

Fox 12 called the race at approximately 9:30 pm local time with Schmidt’s opponent Nathan Vasquez leading 58 percent to 42 percent. In a non-partisan primary, if a candidate garners over 50 percent of the vote, they are declared the winner of the election but don’t take office until January 2025.
 
According to the Oregonian, Vasquez, a longtime prosecutor, began working for the District Attorney’s office fresh out of law school. Over the last 24 years, he worked his way up the chain to become a supervisor.

The defeat of Mike Schmidt puts a spring in my step - and I don't even have any connection to, nor know anyone who lives in Portland. Of the two folks I know who did live there, one moved to Eugene and the other to suburban Pittsburgh.

His campaign set up an area where one could take selfies in front of a "Schmidt Show" light backdrop, adopting the slogan of a local anti-Schmidt campaign highlighting the public safety disaster and death under his tenure. There was a DJ who played music as people mingled around uncomfortably as it became clearer that there was no path to victory.

Toward the end of the party, Schmidt and his wife looked visibly shaken. Schmidt forced a smile when his family spoke on his behalf on the microphone. Schmidt himself said few words to his supporters. There were around 100 attendees.

A former Multnomah County District Attorney's Office prosecutor who worked under Schmidt told me last week for the NY Post article that Schmidt has long had high office ambitions in the Democrat Party and tried to use his prosecutorial choices to generate positive press (e.g., not prosecuting Antifa rioters). He misjudged Portland's long-term tolerance for crime and open drug abuse.
