BLM attacks the 54th MA Regiment Monument?  If this wasn't so sad, it'd be the ultimate of irony.

It's a clue for the clueless.   The dog whistle sign that these ""protesters"" are not protesting racial issues.  They are protesting America as founded.   They are anti-capitalist communists and want to "reset" (their new keyword for revolution) the entire nation and remake it in their Marxist utopian image of what it should be.   Yet another commie hellhole, in other words.

I have a hunch they probably thought it was a plantation owner marching his slaves out in the field.

I became interested in Robert Shaw and the 54th Massachusetts after watching the movie Glory. The racism they endured from the US government and the military and yet still marched on Fort Wagner into near certain death is inspiring

Well, in truth... both reasons are correct.   

Yes, there is ignorance among the BLM.   Kids have been deliberately dumbed down for decades by the left.   The leftists don't want American kids to know our history.

But they have to be directed to do the damage they do.   They don't think for themselves.   They only react to their emotions and take orders from their leftist masters.

Just today I was reading (in "The Black Book of communism") about Cambodia, where the Khmer Rouge led by Pol Pot wanted exactly the same, to literally restart society "in the year zero". About 25% or more of the entire population died as a result.

The democrat-communists, if they get their way, will try the same here.

If these jackasses would deface the Lincoln Memorial, I'm only surprised they failed to deface MLK's monument, too.

It isn't about race. It's about looting, wanton destruction , and the systematic elimination of America. It's hard to destroy history without destroying all the tangible evidence it existed. Burn the documents, burn the books, destroy the monuments. Just like Islam with any land they conquer.

After I read this yesterday...I was curious. I had read of the event several years ago and had taped "Glory", but never watched it. After watching I spent a large part of the day researching as much of the actual history as possible.

If what I read is true...the defacing of this monument is deplorable. These folks need to study history a little closer. The black soldiers were amazing. Yeah, Shaw was white. So what? How many black soldiers were originally admitted and how many white men in that era would have lead them? How many would have died beside them? This is crazy.

The movie "Glory" is tremendously moving. It brings me to tears every time I see it (and I descend from Virginia soldiers). It would be interesting to see what two of its stars, Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman, think of the desecration of the 54th's monument (which for me is equally moving, every time I visit it).

Most of the people doing the damage are young.  In our schools, either history is not taught at all or it has been extensively revised to suit the communist agenda. 

Actually, I grew up during the 50's and 60s and I don't remember reading anything about Shaw and his men back then either.  Kids are taught only what their masters want them to learn. 

I did see the movie Glory and I agree -- moving.    The fools who desecrated this monument don't have 1/10 of the bravery these men had.

The act of defacing one of the greatest artisitic images of all that is good and great about America is a standing insult to every citizen who still reveres and honors our values, and might as well serve as proof that we are at war with an enemy within.

I am from Boston and used to live a literal stone's throw from that monument.

I studied and admired the men who took up arms against our oppressors and antagonists from foreign shores.

What ought we to do about antagonists and would-be oppressors who live among us?

May God help us in our decisions in the difficult days ahead.

No road projects, either.
Send them to an area where buildings were destroyed, put them in irons like a chain gang, and make them clean up the debris.
