Virginia City That Voted Obama Twice Throw Democrats Out Of Office

Three Democratic members of the Staunton, Virginia, city council were ousted by Republicans on Tuesday despite receiving more votes than they did four years ago.

Republican candidates Mark Robertson, Amy Darby, and Steve Claffey all joined incumbent Andrea Oakes in a four-seat GOP sweep, WHSV reported. The three incoming council members replaced Democratic incumbents Erik Curren, Ophie Kier, and James Harrington all almost doubled their vote totals from 2016, yet still lost.

Local outlet Augusta Free Press reporter Chris Graham called the results “stunning almost beyond words.”

“Democrats got their voters out better than they have in a May cycle in years,” Graham wrote. “Republicans got turnout more akin to, not quite a presidential year, but approaching gubernatorial.”

Graham cited gun control legislation in the state as well as COVID-19 lockdowns as key turnout drivers for Republicans in the city.

Mostly farming and Mary Baldwin university.
There are some significant manufacturers in Staunton.

I have to admit I am both pleased and shocked.

I figured northern Virginia was  lost for all-time.

This was no cute little tinker toy special election, but solid gubanatorial level turnout for city races, which is extremely non-typical. And the GOP candidates still swamped the Dems even though their own turnout was double.

I'm guessing too the Indies swung hard GOP, another great sign. And in a VA Dem stronghold to boot.

This is a legit piece of data that could portend a trend against the power grab mentality of the little commie Dem despots.

Looks like conservatives had success in Waynesboro too.

I'd love a statewide analysis to see if maybe there was a trend there.

It's too late for the Rats to "learn their lesson". They have established beyond any doubt that they are anti-2nd Amend.. They have shown if they are given just a little power they will destroy our liberties and empower govt to command all aspects of our lives. They can try and run as "moderates" against the "bully" Trump, but a majority of independents are not going to believe it along with some democrat voters.

Simple analysis...when Pelosi is super powerful, the Dems fare badly.  She is about as powerful as she has ever been, or the perceived power.

She actually thought it was worth the effort to impeach Trump.  That little piece of work will cost the Democommies dearly.  Pelosi is drunk on power, yet truly clueless about everything.  I fully expect one of the greatest landslides in history, perhaps extreme record breaking.

The Dems have gone communist with AOC as their architect, and that image did not exist in 2016.  2020 with the Dems going communist will be a referendum on the party and where they are headed, and Americans will spit on the notion.

Think about it, I have heard repeatedly that if AOC was just a couple years older, Biden would pick her as his running mate.  Just too bad she isn't old enough, because I think with her on the ticket, they would fare far worse than if Stacey Abrams gets the nod. 

I believe it will be Clinton still, but if Biden remains, I see Val Deming as the VP.  Biden needs Florida.

I am confident that what happened in Virginia will happen across the USA.  Perhaps Trump should campaign in California, for it might just be up for grabs,
