Black Ga. Democrat Who Supports Trump Resigns: ‘Black Americans Are Waking up; An Uprising Is Near’

Vernon Jones, a Black Democrat Georgia State Representative, announced his resignation Wednesday, following a week of attacks by fellow party members for his announcement of support for President Donald Trump.
“Earlier today, I made the decision to not seek re-election to the Georgia House of Representatives,†Jones wrote on Twitter. The resignation, effective as of Wednesday, triggers a special election for his seat. However, Jones has no plans to leave the Democrat Party, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
