Did Anyone Think This Through?

Count me as one of a diminishing number of "coronavirus response" skeptics.  My vantage point is that of a working-class person (service manager in an auto repair shop).  My state of Virginia has joined the growing number of states that has ordered its citizens to remain in their homes except for essential reasons, and a shutdown of non-essential businesses until at least June 10th.

The good news for me is that auto repair is classed as an essential service and I have enough diverse skills to make me the kind of employee who will be the last to be laid off.  The bad news is that inevitably, I will be laid off.  Shop revenues for the month of March were down between 25 and 50%, depending on which metric was being used, which means my pay was down by a nearly equal percentage.  So far, in the first few days of April, revenues are down 75-90% companywide.

I work for good people.  It’s a family-owned business with 10 shops.  I know they don't have the cash reserves to keep paying staff through this, and even if they did, they would be foolish to do so since there is no date certain of a return to normalcy.

Yeah,but just look at all the bankrupt businesses and their assets that will be able to be bought for a dime on the dollar by investment bankers.

Great article...and what I fear ... people have been out of work now for over 3 weeks.  The unemployment systems is broken, the IRS now states that they may have problems getting the stimulus checks out ...

When people’s backs are to the wall and they have no choice and no other way, they will accept socialism.

I know many don't feel it is plausible that the DEMS and primarily Biden colluded with the Chinese to bring this about on society; especially America in order for the DEMS to take control ... and like it or not, millions will now be accustomed to some form of socialism. The Chinese will be buying up businesses throughout the world to become the dominate economic superpower and they will finally get their wish of their currency being the world currency.  This happened in a blink of an eye and Americans have potentially given up their rights, freedom and sovereignty.

We have fallen into this trap (myself included because of age and pre-existing conditions) and have surrendered our first amendment rights ... has anyone thought how we are going to get our freedom back?  When does this end?  When Dr. Fauci says so?

I think you are being kind....
The deep state has rendered the entire federal bungle incompetent.
Remember the early years of Afghanistan and Iraq our troops were having to buy their own body armor while the DLA (Defense logistics agency, had warehouses full of the real body armor?
FEMA/DHS/Intelligence/State/etc are ALL chartered with disaster prevention and remediation and they have all failed miserably on all counts.  We have been paying trillions for National Security to include borders, internet, and medical and this event has highlighted just how unprepared we are.
I am not scared, I am angry as hell and I hope once this settles down there is hell to pay by every senior executive at every agency for dereliction of duty.
