Don't you know by now, it's always the other guy and if you can't recall what he looks like I'm sure you have a mirror at home.

I'm really tired of being the other guy in these situations.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

Here lies in honored glory an American soldier, known but to God

I understand your terminology but question your assertion that it makes no difference in quantitative amounts.

No, it was YOUR terminology, and that in fact is the problem, not the quantity. Redistribution is the bane of capitalism

At first I heard that all adults will be getting a check.  Then I read that they will be using tax returns to determine who will be getting a check.  So I'd assume that those receiving social security, disability or other gov't funding won't be getting anything.  To me that's a kick in the butt, because those receiving social security have paid into it.  Yes they have to draw the line somewhere, but as I mentioned before, they can't afford to give a raise that will actually help to those collecting SS, but they can afford this??  They can't.
Here's a thought, if they use tax returns to determine checks would they exclude all the illegals that already cheat the taxpayer using IRS provided Tax  ID's and claiming every resident of old Mejico as a dependent? I already know what the liberal socialists would say, nay demand.

The only possible way we could do that is if our budget was balanced.

You're right.  That guy in the photo is who we saw, but it was JBT who was the moneybags.

Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

Well...like him or not ....Beginning with the 1998 budget year, during his second term, the federal government ran a yearly budget surplus through FY 2001. During the Clinton administration, there was an official surplus of $419 billion during fiscal years 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001.

We haven't had a surplus or a balanced budget since.

I think a few Briefers can put that 'Trump was never a Conservative, anyway' argument away for now, because with this spending spree on maximum dial, he'd look like a total insensitive d*ck if he got in the way of another Congressional Money Train.

Apparently he's still learning the ways of his formidable opponent: McConnell, pelousy/shumer.

Uh, no.  That never happened.

Nope.  We ran deficits all four of those years.

We haven't had a surplus or a balanced budget since.

We haven't had a surplus or a balanced budget since 1957.

Right... Because of the '94 Congress... Clinton was along for the ride.

Lets be honest.

The money is going to come off the printing press.

And in the process everyone's money is going to be worth a little less and everything will cost a little more in terms of dollars - ad infinitum.

Is it just me, first this thread was titled "Romney proposes giving $1K to every US adult amid coronavirus" and now it morphed a couple of times...

Confusing the heck out of me... Don't change titles please. Now it reads "Tulsi Gabbard calls for giving Americans $1K a month during coronavirus outbreak"...

I go back to read the beginning posts and it looks like I jumped subjects.

Tulsi Gabbard made the "give everyone a check" proposal first, then Mitt Romney jumped in with his.  There were separate threads for each, but they have been combined.

I see Maxine Waters has her own proposal,  There is a separate thread for it.

I've joked about getting my check, but truth is, I don't want any money from the government.  These giveaways are going to turn this country into Venezuela.

This will all have to be paid back by a future  generation

I might be wrong but then at some point don’t you have to declare it as extra income on your taxes?
Bingo! that was my concern. I try to calculate our taxes so I either get just a little back or have to pay just a small amount. This will throw all of tha off.

Are these checks just for people out of work or for everyone...there has to be a cut-off amount for people getting checks.

LOL! That thought crossed my mind as well. I made my "swan song" trip to the grocery store yesterday. There were so many screaming, crying kids with runny noses it amazed me. I thought how tough it would be to be stuck in the house with them.
A friend of ours has six kids and made her weekly trip to the grocery store (without the kids) she was loading up and getting dirty looks. She explained that she was not hoarding and this was her normal weekly trip. A good week for her is less than $200.
