Throwing in the towel? Bernie fans fret as Sanders signals the end of campaign may be looming
March 6, 2020 | Frieda Powers

Sen. Bernie Sanders conceded that he would likely drop out of the Democratic presidential primary if former Vice President Joe Biden ends up with the most delegates.

The Vermont senator and 2020 Democratic candidate, who just last week was riding what seemed an unstoppable campaign to the nomination, spoke about his position with MSNBC amid a resurgence in Biden’s bid for the White House.

The self-proclaimed Democratic socialist told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow that he would bow out if Biden had a plurality of delegates entering the convention, but did have some concerns about superdelegates choosing a candidate who did not earn as many delegates than an opponent in the primary race.

“If, at the end of the day, it turns out that Vice President Biden is going to have more delegates than you do heading into the convention, will you drop out?” Maddow asked on “The Rachel Maddow Show” Wednesday.

“Of course I’m gonna drop out; he will win,” Sanders replied.

As much as I was frightened of Bernie the socialist sitting in the Oval Office I think he would have been much easier for Trump to beat.  IMHO, Biden's VP selection is what may unfortunately get him elected.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Sanders is a very old man with documented heart problems.
Of course he will drop out. He is likely looking for a way to drop out.
The question for all of these octogenarians, McCain, Ted Kennedy, Pelosi, Schumer, RBG, and a dozen others
in D.C. today, including Sanders (and Biden BTW), is it worth your life?

These guys are literally killing themselves to push a fantasy ideal from the 1960s.
Is it still worth it? Apparently Sanders is saying, NO. He has realized that his time has passed.

Speaking as a retired person, I can say honestly that being retired is fantastic. Do what you want, when you want to.
It is a shame that these people will never know the peace that I have in my life now.

You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

The Chinese coronavirus could wipe the whole presidential field out before election time and require a primary do-over...

So is that glass half full or half empty type thing?

He wants to avoid a "brokered Convention" because his fan base will shriek "Rigged!" if a second ballot chooses anybody but Bernie.  Even if Biden has more delegates.

I can vouch for that.  Retirement is better than I thought, and I imagined pretty good, too.

Never thought of this and certainly a possibility, but I doubt Biden will be indicted. Oh, I'd love to see it though.

Well, having heart problems doesn't necessarily disqualify Sanders for the WH.  It may not necessarily mean he is in imminent danger of croaking.

But I agree with you about the joys of retirement.  I had to retire earlier than planned (disability) and for financial reasons would have liked to have stayed longer, but now I enjoy retirement.  Life is good.

The trick to enjoying retirement is to have something to do -- travel, hobbies, volunteering, spending time with the grandkids, whatever.  The ones who can't enjoy retirement are the ones who have nothing better to do but work.  Their jobs are or were their lives.

A cousin on my Mom's side was miserable when he retired.  He complained to my Dad that he was bored and was thinking of finding another job.  Later, Dad said to Mom, "your cousin Art is crazy."  Dad had retired a few years earlier at age 60 and loved  it.  He slept late, indulged in hobbies, hit all the farmers markets, found a maintenance or refurbishing job to do around the house, or if he had nothing better to do, he snoozed in the easy chair in front of the tv.   He couldn't understand why Art didn't enjoy retirement as much as he did.

Do hope that peace you found in retirement stays with you.

I am being served by a 'barista' which are called in normal language 'a waitress'
She is wearing a surgical mask. I ask, 'Why are you wearing that?'
She says, 'Wearing what?' I say, 'The mask, Why?'
She says I'm not wearing any mask.
But I can see it, it is right there in my face, just then I noticed 'her' five o'clock shadow...and the light mustache
'She' screams I am not a man and I am not wearing a mask.
What do these Conservative Bigoted Xenophobic idiots want from us?"

What I want is a cup of coffee, hold on the drama. (queen? king maybe)

For the price of 4 of those cups of coffee, you can buy a Mr. Coffee and avoid the drama of the he/she/its of the world.

The weirdest part is they stick something completely false in your face
and then 'force' you by whatever means necessary (governmental force)
to say that Black is White, Good is Evil, and everything everywhere, all people, is just the same.

This is how they strip you of your soul. You have no individuality, You didn't build that!
This is their power.

The operative fact is whether the DNC has met his financial demands. Perhaps he really, really needs a fourth house.

Bernie needs a new house.

I think this time Bernie will take nothing less than his own private jet.

For someone on the verge of quitting, he did pretty well in Chicago today, drawing around 15,000 or so.

I'm wondering if he'll be back in 2024, at age 82, for another go-round...?

Well said, @Applewood .

I tell my friends, "retirement is underrated." I still work part time, mainly to get out of the house, and stay active. I also interviewed for a job last week, an accounting job at an investment firm. Their assessment test included a lot of simple, basic math that precluded the use of calculators. I was not surprised in the least that I was told by the owner that I scored the highest he'd ever seen. Boomers are at a distinct advantage in these tests, because we learned math the right way.

I don't expect to be hired, as every other applicant I saw was in their 20s.

I'll be happy to continue my life as is, which includes picking up my grandson after school. We're through with winter, so I'll be able to get out on the hiking trails more often. Depending on my mood, my iPhone will be playing music, the Rosary, Atlas Shrugged, or the Federalist Papers. The audio book version of John Galt's speech, specifically the final hour, is much more inspiring in audio than reading the printed word.
