Joe Biden’s Big Night Won’t Be Enough To Solve Democrats’ Bernie Sanders Problem

The Super Tuesday narrative is that Biden was vindicated and he’s stronger than ever, but the primary map and the upcoming states suggest otherwise.

By John Daniel Davidson
March 4, 2020

With a sweep of the south and key victories in Minnesota and Massachusetts, the media narrative today will be all about how Joe Biden is the comeback kid, back from the dead, risen like a Phoenix from the ashes. That sort of thing.

It’s the kind of story the media loves. They love it so much it doesn’t matter whether it’s true, or whether the media was writing Biden off less than a week ago. The surprise comeback, vindicated frontrunner narrative is going to be pushed so hard by the mainstream press and the Democratic establishment in the coming days, you’ll think Biden’s nomination is pretty much a done deal.

What the headlines and the narrative won’t tell you is what any casual survey of the Democratic primary map plainly shows: Super Tuesday didn’t solve the Democratic Party’s Bernie Sanders problem.

Yes, Biden had a good night, but so did Sanders. He won Colorado, Vermont, and Utah, as well as the biggest prize of the night, California, and basically fought Biden to a draw in Texas. He also earned enough votes to pick up delegates in every state Biden won—and he did all this with Sen. Elizabeth Warren siphoning off voters who would otherwise have voted for him, while Biden benefited immensely from the eleventh-hour consolidation of the moderate vote and the endorsements of Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Pete Buttigieg, and Beto O’Rourke.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
I see Bernie taking most of the West and the territories, Biden what's left of the South.

This race is going to come down to the big delegate Great Lakes states.
The Republic is lost.

Bernie still may be a hiccup but with Buttgig, Kobuchaker and Bloomers dropping out, it seems to me that the DNC and the DEMS don't want Bernie. I am relieved that there are still enough people out there that are voting against socialism.  Biden will march to whatever drum the DEMS want but at least someone who out and out says he's a socialist isn't getting the momentum I thought he had.

The Dem elite is probably now feverishly figuring out some scheme to count Biden delegates more than the Sanders delegates.
I don't know if they'll try the super delegate scam again that Hillary used to beat Sanders four years ago, but something is most likely brewing in the witches cauldron of Dem planning that spawns most rotten Dem schemes.

This is very true.  Sanders is not going into the good night, and will be an albatross to whomever wins the Nomination.

Nobody was taking Biden seriously so he hasn't gotten attacked much. Bernie took it easy on Clinton, he may not be so nice to Biden. Bernie has one last debate to take his best shot and he's got plenty of ammunition, starting with the Ukraine scandal.

Which really puts the Dems between a rock and a hard place. If they royally screw over the Bern to get their pick nominated, the Bernbots will sit on their hands election day. It's not like turnout has been stellar as it is so far.

And of course if the Bern wins its disaster for the Den party.

It's a really awesome dilemma.
The Republic is lost.

Sanders will likely take CA @ 400
Biden will almost certainly take FL @ 200
That would put Bernie ahead for the time being.
But there are still a lot of 100 or more States out there which Biden may win.
The DNC may not have to do any Voodoo to make Biden win.
Crazy Biden could win just on his own, with no funny business
as weird as that sounds to most rational people in America.

You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

That and Biden's unbelievable charisma and razor sharp mental faculties.  *****rollingeyes*****

The biggest question which is weighing down the whole Primary process is:
Who will get bloomies delegates from American Samoa? LOL! LOL!

The real danger here for the Dems is how they handle Sanders.

Screw him too much, he will go third party as he and his like or true believers in their cause, just like Ralph Nader was when did it.

And Nader screwed the Dems royally.
