Bottom line is no one has caught fire yet. Till someone does, this will be a brokered convention.

They are all almost socialist clones with thin veneers of identity politics. What's there to inspire?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

There are still 14 Democrats running.  I think Sanders has the best chance of winning the nomination because he is the rat I fear the most.

Bennet
Biden
Bloomberg
Booker
Buttigieg
Delaney
Gabbard
Klobuchar
Patrick
Sanders
Steyer
Warren
Williamson
Yang

Some corollary of Murphy's Law?

(He bugs me the most too...because of his position in the field, and True Believers of all stripes bug me.  It's belief detached from thinking.)

My gut is Williamson and Booker will be the next to drop out.

If we're doing predictions, here's how I see the 'final five', if Hillary doesn't rear her head.

Biden
Bloomberg
Buttgeig
Sanders
Warren

Bloomberg rises to third place alongside Warren in national poll

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg saw a 6-point bump in the latest Hill.TV survey of the Democratic presidential primary.

The nationwide poll, which was released Friday, shows Bloomberg up from 5 percent to 11 percent support for the nomination nationally. The former New York City mayor is now in a dead heat for third place with top-tier candidate, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who also received 11 percent support.

Hopefully Bloomberg's surprising strength is just another "flavor of the month" phenomenon indicating that voters are still desperately hoping for the miraculous appearance of a candidate they can actually get excited about.

What worries me is the possibility that he's in it as a placeholder for Clinton, to pay for the wet work of crippling her rivals, especially Sanders, so their voters won't blame Clinton.

I think the Buttgag's youth works against him in the sense that voters see him as having plenty of cycles to try again. Unlike Harris and Beto, he's positioned himself as a credible future party leader once the dinosaurs are gone.

@Snarknado

He's got that one nailed down already if he doesn't screw up. All he needs to do from here on out is to coast and try to not offend any of the DNC money people.

If he's smart he'll bow out gracefully and work hard for the nominee. He's in good shape to run for higher office, though maybe risky in IN - I could see him moving to a blue state like Clinton did - or seek a cabinet position if a dem wins. Harris easily had the inside track for that role and blew it big time, handing it to him on a silver platter.

I agree. I suspect that once his term as mayor ends,he will be accepting a status position in a  ajor law firm with Dim connections in a Dim state, and after that,it's' "Off to the races!"  for a state wide office to set the stage.

Given his age, probably as a VP candidate to help pull in the "we iz de wurld crowd" who would vote for the ticket because the VP candidate is a homo.
