Longtime TV news anchor Tom Brokaw jumped to Twitter and falsely claimed that NBC had apologized for its fake news coverage of Richard Jewel during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics bombing.

The controversy over how badly the national news media treated Richard Jewel, whom they universally blamed for the bombing, has been re-ignited by Clint Eastwood’s new movie chronicling the incident. With the new focus on the incident, Tom Brokaw felt compelled to run to Twitter to absolve NBC and himself for the lies about Jewel. Unfortunately, Brokaw only ended up disgorging even more fake news about the 1996 bombing.

Brokaw posted two Tweets, one that is nearly unintelligible and ending in a lie, and a second blaming others.
