I agree. This nonsense started months and months ago - and now we're still a year away from election day. In my state, I've seen TV ads daily for a gubernatorial candidate, when the primary isn't for six months.

A friend works at a card/gift shop.  She told me she was unpacking holiday stuff the end of August. 

And if you need a winter coat, you had better get it now.  The bikinis will be out in a couple of weeks. 

I think with politics, the candidates have to get started early in order to raise money for their campaigns.  But daily campaign ads, running around the country doing town halls and rallies, and getting in front of a microphone spouting campaign gibberish to the media does seem a bit silly.  A lot can change between now and next year.

Former Congressman Beto O’Rourke ended his flailing presidential campaign on Friday, right before the Iowa state party’s big event.

O’Rourke had everything going for him as he entered the presidential race: A post-Senate race media coverage glow, a big appearance with Oprah, a private meeting with former President Barack Obama, and winning some of the top political talent in the business to help him run his campaign.   ...

O’Rourke was also caught on tape dropping f-bombs during a documentary on his campaign against Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018. “I know I was a giant bleep to be around sometimes,” O’Rourke acknowledged after the documentary was released.

In March, O’Rourke even promised a voter that he would stop using the f-word.

“I don’t intend to use the F-word going forward. Point taken, and very strongly made. … We’re going to keep it clean,” he said.

But in July, he joked with writer Jemele Hill that ‘Don’t Be a F**kstick” could be his new campaign slogan.  ...

I agree @Gefn . I think most people tune out until closer to the election, myself included. A year is a long time in politics.  But I am glad BobFran is gone...that is unless he gets back into Texas politics.

I remember hearing of it. Sedona is some sort of refuge-retreat for New-Agey type folk. Apparently Lena Dunham was so devastated by Trump being elected President that she went on some sort of "spiritual" something-or-other in Sedona. And Fauxican Bobby went for some sort of walk-about in NM after being beaten by Cruz, so my A. B. Normal brain put the two together (and suggested in another thread that Kammy join them).

On the very far-out side, if you want to get an idea of how Lena came to be how she is, Google "carroll dunham art" and click on images. It's her father's "art", and it isn't for the weak of stomach.
