It's a very powerful and sincere picture of the cost of war, and a persuasive explanation for our retreat from Syria. The military hawks I used to look to for guidance on foreign affairs...McConnell, Graham, Haley, Cruz, Rubio, Huckabee, Sasse, and Romney all say it's a mistake...but they don't have to sign the letters to the dead soldier's family. I'll wait and see where it leads, and hope he is right, before judging President Trump. It wasn't an eloquent speech by Trump, but it was more focused on message than usual, and I feel I better understand the President and I feel better about his motivations. If he's got more stuff that unites the American people in empathy he should try more of it as a substitute for the broken-record "my enemies ain't fair" message. Thanx for posting
