Slightly more than half of voters say the House should cancel its current two-week recess and begin impeachment proceedings as soon as possible, according to a Hill-HarrisX poll released Monday.

The survey found that 54 percent of respondents said they would support lawmakers returning to Washington now to advance the impeachment inquiry, compared to 46 percent who disagreed.

Support for canceling the break was strongest among Democratic voters, at 77 percent.

Among GOP respondents, 36 percent said the House should cancel its recess, with 45 percent of independent voters agreeing.

The margin of error for partisan voters was plus or minus 5.8 percentage points.

The Hill-HarrisX survey was conducted among 1,000 registered voters from Sept. 28-29. The overall poll has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.

Impeachment can't succeed without favorable public opinion..that is why Pelosi is not calling for a vote until Dec...they figure by then the public support will be overwhelmingly in favor of impeachment

@mystery-ak

I was surprised when lawmakers were leaving again.  What happened to Summer Break time?  Then, come back and leave again so soon? What is this?  Halloween break?  Then, there is Thanksgiving break, then Christmas Break, then New Year's break, then Valentine break, then....   I think I will run for congress so I don't have to leave home except for a few weeks, divided through the year.  What do they make - over $100,000 a year?  I could use that since there are needy people I help with money I win at a casino and that is nothing compared to over $100,000.

I need to look up how much we are paying these people and how many days they are actually in Washington.  I will do that now.

Support for Trump impeachment, removal grows by 10 points in a week: poll
By Zack Budryk - 09/30/19 03:38 PM EDT

A survey from Quinnipiac University Poll released Monday found respondents evenly split, 47 percent to 47 percent, on whether they support impeaching President Trump and removing him from office, a 10-point swing in favor of impeachment over a five-day period.

The polling firm previously found voters opposed to impeachment and removal, 57 percent to 37 percent, in a poll released Sept. 25. The shift is largely driven by increased support of impeachment among Democrats, who support it 90 percent to 5 percent in the newest poll, up from 73 percent to 21 percent last week.

Quote
The poll is the latest of several to show increased support for impeachment since the inquiry was announced. It was conducted among 1,115 self-identified registered voters using landlines and cell phones. It has a margin of error of 3.6 percentage points.

SALARY AND DAYS WORKED BY US CONGRESS AND PRESIDENT PER YEAR
Here it is (consider the rest in quotes):

President    $400,000
Vice President   $233,000
Senators and House Representatives   $174,000
Resident Commissioner from Puerto Rico  $174,000
President pro tempore of the Senate   $193,400
Majority leader and minority leader of the Senate   $193,400
Majority leader and minority leader of the House of Representatives  $193,900
Speaker of the House of Representatives   $223,500
President also has $50,000 expense allowance.

In 2017, Congress was in session for 145 days out of 261 work days. That’s far less time than the average American worker puts in at the office. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, an average full-time employee receives just 11 days of paid time off after working for a year, 15 days of paid time off after working for five years and 18 days of paid time off after working for 10 years.

This year, 2018, Congress plans to spend even less time in session, due to the midterm election. Based on the 2018 calendar released by both chambers at the end of last year, members of the Senate are planning seven fewer days in session this year than in 2017, while members of the House are planning for 24 fewer days in session. Ahead of Election Day on Nov. 6, the House will be off for three full weeks and the Senate will be off for two.

In 2018, out of 261 work days, the House and the Senate will be in session together for just 121 days.

That is working 4 months a year in Washington, D.C. for that much money.

Its almost comical how obvious it is the rats & rat media want this thing shoved through as fast as possible.

They've noticed how each of their bullsh*t Trump scandals has tended to start out strong and then gradually piddles out as more facts become apparent.

That's only if you can consider what they do to be "work" in any conceivable way.
For most of us, their life is just one big paid vacation.
The salary is nothing. Their real money is in all the perqs, expenses, and grift, they get.
That's how they all have 10s of millions of dollars after a few years in office.

Doesn't matter. They promised their base 'impeachment' a thousand times. The Dems had to do something before the midterms. But reading around they have really jumped the gun and way overplayed this nonsense to the point that it is almost comical. So many jokes floating around out there.

Most Republicans and even some Dems think Trump is being charged with a crime that Biden committed. WTF??? Really?

@mystery-ak

I heard these latest poll numbers from an anchor news person, and Independents number has grown 11% more for impeachment since the last poll.  Don't know when an earlier one was done.

These numbers are given verbally so fast, not enough time to make note of all the categories.  OK, just told myself to work on this from now on so can make a record as they change.  333cleo  I'll find the most reliable polls as we go along.  I worked with these numbers, what they mean, for over 10 years.  Knew the best number guy with his own company for this, in Austin, Texas.  He guided me as I learned to evaluate polls and other voter numbers.

Good work, @Victoria33!

So, the lowest paid person is making $179.75/hour.  Not including numerous perks and outside business opportunities like speaking fees.

"In August 2018, the average worker earned $27.16 per hour..."

I don't either!

The leftists are always complaining about CEOs making a lot more than their workers, so I think they should have a little taste of their own medicine.
