Well, the deal breaker for me, is the right-to-life issue and surely, Tulsi is not there per her official platform. She's in Hawaii which is pretty heavily Democratic (also had 43% voter turnout for the election which must mean something, lowest of all states out there in I gather, paradise.). Her dad was a heavy hitter in the Democrats out there before the Dems went so far left.
This is the Daily Beast so it probably goes overboard some but it captures basic details, article also shows Tulsi on Tucker's show:
Why Conservative Media and the Far Right Love Tulsi Gabbard for President
The enigmatic congresswoman has earned substantial praise from many across the right—from Fox News star Tucker Carlson to white nationalists like David Duke.

While holding familiar Democratic positions on environmental issues, health care, and gun control, Gabbard was a frequent critic of President Obama’s foreign policy, met with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, and has questioned whether he used chemical weapons on his own citizens.
Once discussed among party insiders as a rising star who signed on to be a vice chair at the Democratic National Committee, she quit in protest during the 2016 election and endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
When she ran for re-election in 2018, she had the backing of liberal groups including the AFL-CIO and Planned Parenthood, yet she was briefly considered as a potential member for Trump’s cabinet, and cheered on his diplomatic overtures to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

She isn't actually of Indian descent from my understanding but Samoan but supposedly follows the Hindu religion.
Some claim she's tied to so-called "extreme right wingers" over there in Africa:
Analyst Alleges Hindu Nationalists Created Tulsi Gabbard’s Congressional Career
Rights group claims: “India’s supremacists have infiltrated America and are using her"

LOS ANGELES, CA, USA—â€Her congressional career exists because of financing from and free promotion from Hindu nationalist organizations in the U.S. which are directly linked to Hindu nationalist organizations in India which currently control India’s government and which, there, are directly implicated in repeated pogroms and other atrocities against minorities,†alleged South Asian affairs analyst Pieter Friedrich about U.S. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard in an interview with political talk show host Graham Elwood.

I note, the Gabbard camp is trying to call these smears, I think I posted one article where Tulsi has been protested at a few appearances by these other groups from India:

Tulsi Gabbard’s opponents have attacked her ties with Hindutva organizations.
On January 11, Tulsi Gabbard, a Democrat elected from Hawaii, announced she is running for the United States presidency in 2020. The 37-year-old has already made her mark in history, being the first Hindu elected to Congress. The American liberal media has voiced its appreciation on several aspects, such as her 2016 support to Bernie Sanders. This does not mean she gets a free pass: many political observers have pointed out her use of the term “radical Islam†when describing terrorism in the Middle East. Some analysts believe her use legitimizes the claim of terrorists to Islam. Now Gabbard is under scrutiny for being close to Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister who himself leads the ruling Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
...
Gabbard consented to be the chairperson of World Hindu Congress, a Hindutva leaning organization. Hindutva is militant Hinduism, which as per devout Hindus is as far from the religion as possible. Only after a political outcry by progressive Hindus has she distanced herself from the organization.

Anyway, I'd maintain, she is far from a traditional Democrat, I personally don't care for her friendliness towards Assad but all of this should be thoroughly explored.
