Just having some fun. What do you all plan on doing this long 4th of July weekend.

That sounds like so much fun. My family isn’t getting together , my sister is out of state and my mom is hanging out with some other people she knows.

I’m thinking of going to fireworks if it doesn’t rain but rain is expected and Wednesday I’m donating blood at a local blood drive

My mother's side of the family does this every 4th of July. Been attending them all my life and never fail to meet a new (to me) relative.  Great fun!

Watching movies? I can watch movies any time. The fourth for me is a time for friends, family, children, and being outdoors all day. I'll likely be burned like a lobster on the 5th, but I don't care. Fun in the sun is what it is all about. Hope I can stay awake long enough for fireworks. We shall see.

My daughter, was born on July 4th.

I remember driving that night, from the hospital to my inlaws home afterwards. Fireworks going off against the  sky.

We have celebrated every year with food, fireworks, fun.

Impressive, @thackney !

I'm going to bbq some ribs and then go sit in the back of the pickup truck with many of my neighbors in their pickup trucks in the town park while the children run around until it's dark enough for the fireworks to start.  Then everyone loads up sleepy children and goes home.  Pretty perfect.

Our first 4th with a Yorkie we adopted last year.  I have no idea on how he'll react.   Yippily, I'm sure.   :terror:

Have no real idea what I'm doing on the 4th.  No plans with family and/or friends.

My last cat was afraid of fireworks, but he would try to be brave.  He would sit next to me on the sofa, ostensibly to protect me.  But in reality, I had to reassure him.

In this neighborhood, where nearly everyone is on some kind of government assistance, yet they all seem to have fireworks -- a few have already started shooting them off.  Maybe if I'm lucky, they will run out of fireworks and not have any left for the 4th.

Hopefully...I'll get to stay home and not have to drive to my brother's to see his new house.

I eat ribs once a year (cholesteral and all that other health junk), scalloped potatoes and corn on the cob. Oh and bakery cherry pie with ice cream. I just hear Dr. No and Nurse Nazi  having a fit even today. I'll sit outside when it gets dark and watch the fireworks at a nearby marina.

On the 5th...A friend brought me some fresh catfish (well it was when I froze it) and I'm FRYING it. And the leftover veggies from the 4th.

After all, it's all about the food. :) I hope I don't have to go to my brother's, I'm looking forward to this.

I am in a rural area outside city limits.  Neighbors are hundreds or thousands of feet apart.

Our biggest concern is frightening our own horses.

I still contact the neighbors to let them know in advance, and invite them to watch from their yard or ours.

We're doing the beer and fireworks thing. I have some of my own fireworks, and the professional display Laughlin puts on across the river looks fantastic from the bedroom deck of the Castle.  They had one Saturday night, too and they were awesome!

The beer is courtesy of the Castle private bar.  Maybe some Canadian Whiskey to wash it down, eh?

I can't remember where, probably PA, but around 20 years (maybe a bit more), there was a state where you could buy fireworks in stands by the border, but you had to have an out of state DL.  Or something like that.  The details are a little froggy, but they were happy to sell them, as long as you took them away.

Might have been that place right on the NC/SC line?
