Ted Cruz demands federal inquiry of Portland mayor after Antifa attack on conservative journalist

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has called for a federal criminal investigation of an Oregon mayor, alleging that he allowed a conservative journalist to be assaulted by an anti-fascist group during a weekend protest.

“To federal law enforcement: investigate & bring legal action against a Mayor who has, for political reasons, ordered his police officers to let citizens be attacked by domestic terrorists,” Cruz wrote on Twitter Sunday.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, a Democrat who is also the police commissioner of the city, has not publicly responded to Cruz.

On Saturday, Antifa protesters assaulted and threw milkshakes at Andy Ngo, an editor for the conservative publication Quillette, at a Portland rally. Ngo frequently writes about the left-wing group and in his Twitter bio he claims that he is “hated by the antifa.” He later retweeted a video of him being attacked......

In view of such facts, I will wait for more facts to surface.

From the standpoint of LEO, city managemen etc., leaave the thugs on both sides to beat each ther.

All it would take is the cops meeting that crap with extreme prejudice  - Just once - And all this stuff just dries up and disappears.

Sen Cruz failed to cite the section of the Constitution that authorizes the Fed. Gov to jump into something local like this.

Two groups of young men voluntarily show up at a designated site, for non-lethal play.

Reporters know the risks.

The local authorities wisely did not risk police safety, and instead let the rowdies have their battle.

I have talked with several Police people.

I welcome anybody with actual experiennce and training to comment, as well as the Constitutional basis.
