Canadian Woman Says She Fell Critically Ill While in Dominican Republic

A woman from Canada who stayed at the Bahia Principe resort in the Dominican Republic in 2016, is among the latest of several people to have stepped forward with allegations of being poisoned while on vacation in the Caribbean nation.

Tina Hammell told CNN that she and her husband were taking a nap in their room at the Punta Cana resort when a strong chemical odor and stinging sensation in her throat and nose suddenly woke her up.

“My throat and nose were on fire,” she told the broadcaster. “It smelled like paint.”

As you plan your vacation to socialist Cuba, don’t expect your travel agency to tell you about the health risks or the deadly diseases you may contract during your time there. Travel agencies that specialize in Cuba travel are only interested in selling you a ticket or a package to Cuba. The rest is your problem.

John Suarez reports in Notes from the Cuban Exile Quarter:   

... Canada’s Sunwing travel agency pitches Cuba as “Paradise…with a history.” However it fails to mention some of the health risks of traveling to the tropical island and have been sued in the past. Now they have some more bad press coming their way because eight Canadians caught a serious illness in a cave in Cuba, but the travel agency continues to promote the trip without mentioning the health risks.   ...
