US adds Saudi Arabia and Cuba to worst human traffickers list
By Jennifer Hansler, CNN   Updated 11:25 AM ET, Thu June 20, 2019

(CNN)The United States on Thursday added Saudi Arabia and Cuba to its list of worst offenders on human trafficking, a designation that could make them "subject to certain restrictions on assistance."

The two nations were added to the lowest tier in the State Department's 2019 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report. Russia, China, Venezuela, Iran, North Korea, Syria, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Myanmar are among the 21 Tier 3 countries.

The countries listed in this tier do "not fully meet the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking and (are) not making any efforts to do so," according to the report.

Probably with all of the hub-bub about Iran, this story was completely missed.

Generally speaking, one would think that having poor standards to eliminate human trafficking would mean pretty open borders.

Who knows what the situation for crossing borders say, in Russia are???

If 21 countries are in this "Tier 3", that's really a huge amount if there are? Guesstimating, say, 160 countries in the world. It's probably a lot higher but still, 21 countries seems to be a lot especially with 2 big land nations in Russia and China.

Why would one think that?
