As many rightly worry (except Sen. Tom Cotton) that President Trump is gearing up for war with Iran, with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the president’s national security adviser John Bolton leading the way and licking their chops, a story Wednesday gave some hope that might not be the case.

It seems Trump is also seeking advice from someone who isn’t a stark raving mad neoconservative hawk: Tucker Carlson.

The Daily Beast’s Maxwell Tani, Betsy Woodruff, and Asawin Suebsaeng reported Wednesday, “In the upper echelons of the Trump administration, hawkish voices on Iran predominate—most notably Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton.”

“But as tensions between the U.S. and Iran have escalated over the last few weeks, there’s been another, far different voice in the president’s ear: that of Fox News host Tucker Carlson,” the trio reported.

Jack Hunter is a Rand Paul acolyte, that's mentioned basically in the last paragraph when it says who the author is. Mega-Non-Interventionist, so, if one likes Rand and Ron actually and in fact, Tulsi Gabbard who Tucker threw softball questions too, when she was on Tucker's show, then, one might like this line-of-thinking.

Sen. Rand Paul has long been against Bolton, Rand would need to be cross-examined on his foreign policy views more as would Tucker Carlson at this point.

I always thought the President named Bolton to that position to make himself look like a dove in comparison.  The other half of the good cop/bad cop team.

I thought Bolton was hired to help navigate the bureaucracy in DC...then, listen to Bolton but still follow one's instincts. We will have to see how this happens as the JCPOA is out the window now.

Which means, "This is really Europe's baby now."  It's not our concern if Iran breaks out of that agreement as they've announced, because we aren't a party to the JCPOA anymore.
