 Amazon is eyeing a return to New York City

Amazon may have bid farewell to Queens, but it still “hearts” the Big Apple.

After walking away from a deal to build a headquarters on the Queens waterfront in Long Island City, Amazon is back to shopping for office space on Manhattan’s West Side, sources tell The Post.

The tech giant has been in talks with owners of two shiny new skyscrapers located just one block west of Penn Station — the newly built One Manhattan West and its soon-to-be sister project, Two Manhattan West, sources tell The Post.

The online retailer is seeking “at least 100,000 square feet or much more” — just to start, one well-placed source said.

Amazon, which already has 5,000 workers in NYC, had been “seriously” looking at Two Manhattan West prior to choosing Long Island City in November, a second source said. “That interest has returned over the last few weeks,” the source added.

The fools.  If they build a HQ in NYC they deserve all the misery they will get.  They will also be forced to recollect it was the NY State Legislature that blew the first deal, not Occasional Cortex.

NYC is declining under DeBlabbio. Amazon must be trying to shore up the giant commie. It will be interesting to see if the bartender doubles down on her objections to jobs. How can she not?

I know they do, and they deserve them.  However, the rejection of the Amazon deal originated in Albany, not NYC.  Sucks to be upstate NY, I'm sure.  Sorry.  It's like being in CA's Central Basin. :shrug:

In the past 10 years Bufalo has had quite a turn around. The problem is that the Dems are still in charge.
The other problem is that prime Real Estate that used to be owned by Bethlehem and Republic steel on the waterfront is heavily contaminated with Asbestos, PCB's, and who knows what else. Instead of removing them the companies opted to "contain them" this amounted to "Trench and bury" which was technically legal but definitely ethically questionable.
