Brazil's Bolsonaro invited to Texas event by World Affairs Council
Jake Spring, Lisandra Paraguassu

BRASILIA (Reuters) - Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is expected to attend an event next week in Texas at the invitation of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth, the council said on Wednesday, following the cancellation of his trip to New York City.

The South American leader will speak to business and civic leaders at an event in Dallas hosted by the council on May 16, the council said in a statement.

Bolsonaro’s planned visit to Texas comes after his trip to New York was canceled as sponsors dropped out of an event set to honor him as person of the year. The organizers struggled to find a venue, under pressure from criticisms about his past racist, homophobic and anti-environment remarks.

They are a bit new to me, anyone heard of them? It sounds like they have a number of local chapters.

See on their wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Affairs_Councils_of_America

Sounds interesting, I wonder how one joins.  Maybe its for businesses, maybe its for anyone. I think I read in one place that they have 93 chapters... 3 in Alaska alone from the wikipedia entry.

May I suggest staying clear of Dealey Plaza.

See, the article mentions New York and how he cancelled his trip to NY.

I think they gave Bolsonaro the cold shoulder. Now, I forget what it was about but he decided to cancel his trip to there.
