Pompeo abruptly cancels trip to Germany
« on: May 07, 2019, 12:26:33 pm »
Washington (CNN) — Secretary of State Mike Pompeo abruptly canceled a scheduled trip to Germany where he was planning to meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel "due to pressing issues," the State Department said early Tuesday.

No specific reason was given for the cancellation. The press pool traveling with Pompeo has not been told where they are going next, and have been warned they may not be able to report from the country they are going to until after they leave.

Where's Bolton?

On his way to the Iranian capital, albeit a bit belatedly...?

“And that’s why, before 2019, we here will celebrate in Tehran!”

Bolton wrote that NYT article urging that Iran be bombed but I thought,  they'd accept taking him in the administration in that his knowledge, knowledge of the bureacracy and how to push things through, get rid of dead wood was the reason.

As Iran gets closer to obtaining a nuclear weapon, a weapon should be used against it.

At least that's what John Bolton, a former U.S. diplomat who served as the ambassador to the United Nations from August 2005 to December 2006, thinks in a New York Times op-ed titled "To Stop Iran's Bomb, Bomb Iran."

So far, Bolton seems to be doing well. I'd not blame anything on him about what is going on with Pompeo cancelling a trip to Germany.

I'm not so sure about the NK/USA summit in Hanoi.  I'm again, not ready to blame Bolton for that though, that could be the case. My view is we walked away from a bad deal.

So, maybe right now, Israel passed some intelligence off to us. Let's hope we don't deal with faulty intelligence as has happened in the past, so to speak.

Pompeo is also on record as saying the Iranian nuclear program could be eliminated with about 2K sorties. Maybe, but the blowback would be severe.
