Biden leads Trump by 8 points in hypothetical 2020 matchup: poll

Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Trump by 8 percentage points in a hypothetical 2020 general election matchup, according to a new Morning Consult/Politico poll.

The poll, released Wednesday, shows Biden with the support of 42 percent of registered voters in the potential matchup, while Trump is backed by 34 percent of voters. Another 19 percent said they aren't sure who they would support, and 5 percent said they wouldn't vote.

Biden has yet to officially enter the presidential race but is expected to formally launch his campaign for the Democratic nomination on Thursday. He is likely to argue that he can unify both the Democratic Party and the country.

The Morning Consult/Politico poll also found that Biden, who has faced accusations that he has inappropriately touched women over the years, has greater support than Trump among women. The poll shows 45 percent of women backing Biden and 28 percent backing Trump.

Biden also leads Trump by 22 points among millennials, according to the poll.

The poll's results are based on surveys conducted between April 19 and April 21 with 1,992 registered voters. The poll has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.

Who wants to bet that this guy nominates Obama as his VP? I'm not big on conspiracy theories but 1) they could loophole it by saying "the 25th only says a President can't be ELECTED President more than twice, it says nothing about being elected VP and SUCCEEDING. He still has two years of eligibility left!" 2) the Obama name is, for reasons that still perplex me, treated with reverence among the younger generation despite his doing jack squat to help anything.

That is about the same spread HRC had going into election day.  The polls at this point mean literally nothing.

And Biden will be blanked by HRC.  In fact, she will make mince meat out of him quickly.

Your second point is a strong argument against your "conspiracy theory."  If I put myself in Obama's shoes there is no way I would want to come back under Biden.

I wonder how many of those 42 percent have heard of Biden, and how many haven't and are just voting "not trump".  I know that sounds insane to us, but how many people out of a random sample of the population can even name the VP?

I think a lot of that lead disappears after the creepy joe ads get out in full force.  Also, if Bernie supporters get butt hurt over him losing the primary and decide to sit it out.

I listened to Biden's announcement on the radio. His voice was smarmy and insinuating as he used the "fine people" comment by Trump out of context. The whole thing was a nasty smear, way over the top. Creepy.

Trump would never be behind a Politico poll.  I believe Soros is behind Politico.  I suspect Soros and Biden are chums, since one was Obama's puppetmaster and the other his side kick.

Media-driven polls are not to gauge public opinion, but to influence it.  It's why I don't like them.

Once one understands this they start to make sense.  The polls meant to measure opinion are the ones by politicians and we don't usually get to see those.  Believing any poll a year before the Primaries are in full swing is foolish.

Fretting over a poll 2 years prior to the election is beyond stupid.

Hillary was leading President Trump up until 9pm on Election night...so there's that.   

Furthermore, it's hilarious to point out the lack of sense of irony these Socialists have.
